Do you need to have same adress on your address proof and Passport?
Its great that you got on same day although I was just wondering that PCC get issued only after police verification so how they provided you on same day.

I thought of hiring agent but what you suggesting is good. Can you please provide all the steps which you followed for PCC

you need not have same address on passport and current address proof.

PCC has to be applied for at current residential address.

And yes, PCC is recd same day you apply if last passport issuing office and pcc application office are the same. I got mine and my wifes PCC, the same day we applied.

Congrats to those who got PER....


I want to clear one doubt. My application was received by CIC on 3rd July 2014. I sent my spouse's birth certificate issued by Indian Consulate (UAE). Please note that she was born in Sharjah(UAE). Additionaly I sent SSC certificate which contains her full name (please note that her parents name is not mentioned seperatly).

I had conformed from Indian Consulate,UAE that BC is valid for PR application.

But my doubt is.....Will CIC accept her BC??????

Hi rags,
1. Getting PPC is very easy now via passport seva Kendra.
I have applied online via passportindia. gov.in and booked a slot by paying 500.
Visited passport seva Kendra as per slot time (I got slot after 4 days), with in one hour of process I got the PCC in my hand.
Note: they asked me write a letter why I want PCC. I have mentioned as I need it to apply for FSW.
as my current address and passport address are same, they asked to bring only copy of passport and no other document are required.
So go ahed and complete.
2. I have taken a FD just like you on same day after transferring the funds. But I have provided FD copies and bank balance certificate only to CIC ( I have not provided the statement)

Hello everyone I am 13th May Applicant DD mode applying for the first time so no UCI no. Desperate to find out if my DD has been encashed. Can i plz have the cic email add so i can inquire about my status. My bank is no help so i am guessing if i write to CIC now at least ill get reply in 30 days. Also what do i have to mention in the email for inquiry as i don't have UCI No. Thanks in advance :'(

1- The question is not whether people are successful there - the real question is if 'I' or 'my family' will be successful there. A lot are successful!!!

2- I am sure even from within us a good 25 to 30% will pack their bags back in some time, though the actual percentage may vary. But a good percentage will be successful, and that is what really matters.

3- Hints of who will be successful - people that are already familiar with ways of the developed world, or people who have prepared themselves well for the upcoming move, or people that are ready to invest a lot in re-educating themselves, or simply people that are smarter and find solutions.

4- Who is coming back then - people who need hand holding in almost every thing on a day to day basis, or people who don't have much to give but are only there to ask all the time, or people who do not know where to find what info, or people who are constantly worried. The new culture will sense your insecurity soon and use it to their advantage.

Asking is okay though, it is foolish not to ask. But one should put effort themselves rather than look for short cuts. I'd say even making mistakes is ok, not a big deal if one made a mistake and let's say application returned - we always learn.

The essence of the post is for us to identify where we fit and understand what we can do to 'upgrade' self for this major transition in life. After all, we all want to make a success out of this, though not all will be able to. Ask yourself, have I invested properly to ready myself for this move!

Hopefully the post sounds with a balanced view but please do let me know if it sounds one-sided (can even PM me if this offends you LOL instead of whacking my a$$ in public), or if I may have forgotten to include something critical. Please research well there is ton of information out there - both readable and video. Plan to land as single (this is for some, if not for all) to make your initial struggle a bit easy on the pocket as well as on the mind. I suggest, wait for some more time.

While sending email to CIC , you dont have to write UCI number as of dont have.

Thats a good question..
There are two cases here
1) Applying for PCC with the same address you have on your passport
- For this you just have to get your passport copy. that is sufficient. Physical Police clearance was waived here because, police clearance was already done while issueing Passport .. But all the applicants who applied along with me, got their PCCs on the same day which was a VERY BIG relief for me ..
2) Applying for PCC with different address which you have on your passport
- Physical police clearance may be required here.. I come under this case, but it is waived off (may be because my wife passport has recent address updated)

Let me explain you my case.. Me and my wife have applied for PCC. My old address is X and new address is Y. My passport was updated with X address and my wife passport is updated with Y address and she got the passport few months back. I have provided Passport copy and Aadhar copy.. my wife has submitted only Passport copy .. However we bot got PCC on the same day within 1 hour..
Dont hire any agents for this process.. it is pretty simple ..

PCC through Passport Seva Kendra is the best way.. First you have to register online in Passport Seva Kendra.. then choose Police Clearance Certificate .. fill up online form and schedule time to appear in the nearest Passport Seva Kendra .. you have to pay 500 rupees online.. You will be asked to select the country for which you are applying, then you can select Canada..
Documents you may need are 1) your passport copy 2) Address proof copy .. Get originals along with you
If you are married, you have to log two online forums, one for you and one for your wife.. the site is very user friendly, there wont be any issue, if in case you have any concern, pm me any time

I am currently in Hyderabad. Any applicants from Hyderabad who already submitted their application..can you suggest a good photo studio where I can get those required photos according to the specifications.
I tried telling the specs to a couple of photo studios here and they dont seem to get it right.
so if any of you guys can recommend a good photo studio..I thought it is better to go with that

yes, each of them are finance related and having a Cap of 1000 and they are relatively less in demand. So you can check/ match your Job duties with their NOC description on the HRSDC site

Period of stay isn't mentioned as it is not for a particular address. Issued date is mentioned in the PCC. I haven't applied for PCC yet but you can search for it's format online

Ya true, PER worries have actually gotten best of me and that is why i have limited my "consulting" activities.... Some how i thought that u moved from Canada to US in 2nd para and then back to Canada in 3rd, without noticing that it talks abt "Senate", which is not Canadian form of government.

No, i have not watched Vikram & Beetal.. but will definitely do it over the weekend (it just started).

P.S: Just keeping my fingers crossed for PER ..... only 19 remaining to be reported from forum but i usually think abt global figure of 76 (19*4) to remain positive but my heart still beats @ 19.
