@oscar7
While u were worried for providing the affidavit i was confident that its not required (but didn't want u to leave any stone unturned), which was based on
1. Its pretty common for companies (especially the good ones) to have a policy of not entertaining such requests and discourage "unauthorized" use of letter head. So CIC knows it. Cover letter is mainly to explain issues specific to the applicant, when you don't want to leave interpretation to reviewer's imaginations.
2. Business card serves the purpose of enable confirmation loop (if u have excess to letterheads, its as good as plain paper, main concern is verifiability and duties from mgr or organization's point of view otherwise everyone consider him/herself the most valuable employee of the organization). Yes, being part of reputable multinational plays an important role, when it comes to believablity of the claim and value of supervisor's signature, even on plain paper, as no senior of such organization will risk his job for subordinate's immigration.
3. Affidavit is required, when applicant is self declaring the responsibilities.
4. At this stage, CIC is only confirming "Completion" level, local VO will do the authentication/genuineness part. So be ready for slightly higher scrutiny of your employment and authority of your supervisor who provided the letter.
All the best!!!

@ neel
Totally agree with what Partner Shah says in post 31155.
LOL you have to start thinking like a firm's Partner Neel, only Associates require sign-offs from Managers, hahaha
I guess you have not read the confidentiality part of the agreement if you are asking about fees LOL...okay jokes apart one interesting piece of information below for everyone:
PS - Guys I checked with my banker later today and she said my DD was charged on 20th June itself. Actually she was on vacation last week so I had emailed her the DD details only yesterday. So essentially my DD was charged even before my cover letter (explaining why I wasn't able to provide reference letter on company letter head) reached CIC on 23rd June (yesterday). May be this was possible as I applied to Financial Manager category and my offer letter clearly states that I am a Manager (so did my reference letter on plain A4 paper) and I work for a large financial bank (let's say just, like Citibank) so they took on face value that roles and responsibilities in such a financial organization would be of a financial manager....i am just guessing what might have happened there!)
