My passport expires in Feb; my wife's and son's in March. I know I can renew it once it's 6 months to expiry. Kindly advice if I should just do it now or hold on a bit. We have our PER since mid Sept and awaiting MR.

You should get your PER between 3 and 10 working days after been charged.
Just relax and calm down your nerves....it won't miss you.

You can renew them now for you not to be under unnecessary pressure when Accra contact you.

On the average, PER comes about 2 to 4 weeks after CC/DD has been charged. All the best :)

Means mine was fast. I got PER after about 9 days of CC charge.

It is better to renew your passports now. Extract from PPR message reads as below (see bold fonts).

"PASSPORTS. Check that:
There is an individual passport for each family member accompanying you to Canada. Children must have their own passports.
Each passport is valid for at least 6 months from the time you come for the visa.
Each passport has sufficient free pages (two required for our visa, plus pages for any transit visa)"
