Hello Everyone,

I have a question with regards to applying under the Federal Skilled worker's category. I have been working in Canada for nearly 6 months now as a full time employee on a post graduate work permit. I have been considering applying under FSW - arranged employment and I recently received an offer of employment letter from my employer to support my application. However, please note that I do not have a LMO to support this application and my existing work permit expires in another 5 months.

What I'd like to know is if I can go ahead and apply under the FSW - arranged employment category without a LMO (as I have a valid post graduate work permit)? If not, I will wait to gain 1 year of employment and apply under CEC.

Much appreciate your advise!

Thanks.

Hey Nikki,

You can apply under FSW - arranged employment category and you do not need a LMO. Please find the details here - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/skilled.asp

Thanks
CL

You dont have to be present Sunlight......but its not advised that they send it to you via mail!!!! best that a close friend or family traveling take it to you in your home country.

Tnx ... for clearing ... But a bit more....

Is it must that they'll be start preparing this card after initial landing? Or how about If I just visit to activate the visa, and plan to make final move after 4/5 months, then I apply for this card ?

Is it they'll issue it after I land for the first time anyhow and I'll have to have someone ready to collect If I'm not there ?

Hello Nikki, I think you should not apply for FSW because the requirements clearly state that LMO is needed and not just an employment letter.

I think you for, the Canadian Experience Class should be the best route to take. I'm not so sure of the requirementa of that class though. Now you have also said you have worked for 6 months while your Work Permit expires in 5 months time. At the expiration of your Work Permit, you would have had 11 months experience. Does 11 months experience qualify you to apply under CEC or a full one year experience?

Guys, please I need your help. I just checked my ECAS status using my UCI Number and it shows "In Process". When I click on "In Process" I get a message saying "We received your application for permanent residence on November 18, 2013". Can I confidently say my PER is on the way?
Nanonye, how did you get your UCI number? Have you previously applied to Canada?

Nikki, this is just a suggestion. Why not try the PNP for the province you're currently based, seeing that your post-graduation work permit expires in 5 months. In any way, best wishes.

Hello again.

Was anyone able to contact CIC via phone to get an update on their application status?
When I tried it today on the final step automated system tells me to press "0" to speak to the agent but after I press this button
I receive a message something like "you pressed a wrong button".

Hi there !!!

I need help from some senior members on this forum. Well I applied against NOC 2146 on 22 Nov, 13. Today as on 13 Jan, 14, I learnt that my credit card was charged on 09 January, 2014. However, I have not received any acknowledgement or reply from CIC or CIO as yet. Can some senior member please advise what does that mean? Does that mean my application has been accepted for further processing at the concerned visa office, which happens to be UK, London in my case?. Moreover, when should I expect an acknowledgement from CIC containing my UCI or File Number so that I can track my application online? So far I can not use the online service.

I also need guidance as what is going to happen next in the logical sequence. Moreover, please what do the abbreviations such as "PER" and "AOR" refer to.

Thanks and looking forward to a reply...

Nikki, if your employer did not obtain an LMO to hire you, you'll require an LMO to apply.

With some exceptions (e.g., when the job offer is issued by a different employer than on the applicant's existing work permit), most people who are already in Canada can submit their Federal Skilled Worker application (with a qualifying job offer) directly to CIC for consideration. In such cases, a separate application does not need to be made to ESDC for a Labour Market Opinion.
