Hi,

The applicant for PR is 25 years old and married to the sponsor (a canadian citizen), he has parents and 2 brothers older than 18. Only HE is requesting PR (not his parents or brothers). Here are my questions:

1) Does he include his parents, brothers AND the spouse (even if she is the sponsor) on the form 5406 ? or does he just state Not applicable ?
2) Does he include his parents, brothers AND the spouse (even if she is the sponsor) in the family member section in form IMM 0008 ?

Thank you very much

We had the same question, and because we didn't do it correctly, our application was sent back!

Form 5406 includes all of sponsored person's immediate family (18 and over). Form 0008 doesn't include any of sponsored person's family. It's only supposed to have the spouse/partner if they're not a citizen of Canada already.

That was my understanding. We sent the forms back filled out like this, and were approved for sponsorship a week later! Hope this helps!

This.

IMM 5406 - include everyone (I had to include my mother's step children - people I've met a handful of times if even that).
IMM 0008 Generic - include no-one since the wife is the sponsor.

Thanks for your response, this is what we thought as well. Our application was in fact returned requesting for IMM 5406 filled out. They also indicated that we must include a picture of each family member.

When I look at the form, I cant find anywhere it says to include photos.

Is there a Guide I am missing that explains this ?

Thanks again.

When I sent mine off, somehow I managed to not include IMM5406, but was lucky that instead of returning the whole thing, London just requested me to send it.

Thanks AlanWhales,

DO you recall having to send pictures of each family member ? If yes, how many ? The reason I'm asking this is that when they returned the package with the request to fill out this 5406 form, they also stated to include pictures of each family member as indicated in the Appendix A of the Document checklist of the guidebook "Immigrating as a spouse, common-law or conjugal partner, or dependent child" .

We do not know where to find that guidebook. We only found, and used, the "Sponsorship of parents, grandparents, adopted children and other relatives - The immigrant's Guide" .

Thanks a lot for your help

No, I didn't have to give photos and there was nothing that I read to say that I needed to. I would have thought that would only be applicable for people who are part of the application.

You clicked the wrong link; you need to click the spouse/common-law partner link, not the other family members link.
