Obviously the strike cannot go forever and I am hoping for an end soon. Please no negative energy. From this article PAFSO sounds like they won't have preconditions and both sides will sit back at the table. So MB started offering it last year. I graduated in 2010 so I wouldnt know that MB started offering this program. At my time it didnt. Nevertheless rest of provinces still charge for it especially Ontario and Alberta with probably highest ratio of international students in the country.

You conveniently skipped the rest of my post regarding the comparison of how much international student WILL spend in canada compared to PR who MAY (or may not) spend that I made up following your logic.

I didn't skip it I had to go to work.

I didn't go to university in Manitoba. I went to College in Ontario. I'm also a citizen not a foreign student.

I'm not sure where you get this $800/month number. Maybe $800 for the school year. In BC foreign students have to pay $66/month for health insurance. The rest is picked up by the tax payer.

One the topic of your devaluation toward contributions of PR's and or PR spouses I would say it pretty ignorant. PR's will contribute directly to the economic infrastructure long term. Food, clothing, buy a house, buy a car, educating themselves and or their kids, vacations around their province or within Canada, financial investments etc..... this on top of the costs associated with filing a visa application in the first place.

Students are on budgets. They will not spend money on big ticket items. They spend money on ramen and Kraft dinner; beer and pot.

I also was unaware that WestJet flew internationally.

I am a bit behind in following the news on the strike, I just read one of the articles posted above and it says

"Foreign service officers refused to process visa applications at 15 of Canada's busiest foreign offices for the better part of the summer."

Anyone know where I can find out which offices are included in that 15?

Our application isnt in yet, should be sending it in first week of October. After sponsor approval it will go to Mexico.

this was released in July and these are the 15 VO that were affected:
in order to persuade the Government that binding arbitration remains the responsible way forward to resolve our dispute, PAFSO members will withdraw all services until further notice at Canada’s fifteen largest visa processing centres abroad: Abu Dhabi, Ankara, Beijing, Cairo, Delhi/Chandigarh, Hong Kong, London, Manila, Mexico City, Moscow, Paris, Riyadh, Sao Paulo, and Shanghai.

I am very happy to see PAFSO won their arbitration, step one down, now can we actually get TEAM STUPID to enter into any meaningful negotiations??

This is true. Not until the PSLRB is in a position to send the government into binding arbitration will anything change from this government. Clement is just a puppet. He does what Stevie says so he can keep his position in Cabinet. This government has zero moral compass.

How much longer will it take before the PSLRB gets the resolve to order arbitration? I think that will follow a political agenda. I think we need to see what comes out of the throne speech to get an idea of where this clown school is going next.
