If you have any questions about migrating to Canada and you have already gotten your UIC number, I'd like to encourage you to register with YMCA's Next Stop Canada.

NextStopCanada.ca is a great way to find out about life in Canada, how to prepare for your move, what you need to do before you leave your home country and how you can bring your belongings tax free when you land in Canada.

It is a CIC funded program to help people from allover the world who are in the process of coming to Canada or have done a short landing.

They focus on the needs of the entire family, youth, adults and elders; and though they are focused on Ontario, they are offering Canada wide resources.

They are a team of immigrants themselves who speak many different languages and want to share their insider knowledge which is extremely important to know before arriving in Canada. It can save you money, time and bring you on a clearer road to success.

These services are free, as the Canadian Government funds them especially for you!

Ask them everything you want to know! Contact them as many times as you need answers.

You can contact all the pre-arrival services funded by CIC, you have the right to use all of them for free. If you dont like a service , you may move on to the next one until you find a good fit for you.

You need one of these documents to register:

Medical Examination or Security request letter
Letter requesting for passport submission
IRCC invitation letter to obtain pre-arrival services
Canadian Permanent Resident Visa
Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) letter

Hi @elle03 ! Can we please get your timeline and application stream? We don't want to bother CIC if the application is technically still fresh. :D

Per the Apr-May 2017 AoR FSW-O thread, we sent emails to the central intake office (CIO) when our applications seemed like it was dragging along. Met a fellow Filipino there whom I think decided to contact the Manila LVO when the applications seemed to stall at that stage. @ver2017 , could you please enlighten us if you were successful with this?

Include the following in your email to the CIO: IRCC.CPCO-FinalRequest-CTDO-DemandeFinale.IRCC@cic.gc.ca
Email subject: include your application number
Body of your email should enumerate the following per PA/dependent: full name as it appears on your application, UCI number, date of birth, relationship to the primary.

I would refrain from sending emails to the CIO unless you've been stuck in IP1 or 2/NA for a while (months) without movement though. Extra correspondences will just add to their work and reduce minutes they can spend working on the applications. Does that make sense?

Hope this helps.
Thank you. App received and aor jan 24 2017 and additional documents were sent to Manila VO sept 18. I just havent received an acknowledgment thats why I followed up with them.

Wait. I just noticed that you’ve already been approved with a visa since PPR via e-mail has been sent in June. May I ask what’s holding you up especially that additional documents were requested post issuance of visa?

Hi mga kabayan awaiting or have received PPR/COPR,

I just finished our CFO registration and PDOS seminar. It was very informative, and jam-packed with information-- the things they say are surprisingly the last thing on you mind but very important. I just wanted to remind everyone not to miss this very important step as it is a requirement of us emigrants. It does apparently happen that emigrants miss out this requirement. There was actually one gentleman that attended our session yesterday who was already at the airport last week to fly to Canada to do landing but barred at the immigration counter due to the lack of the PDOS sticker on his passport. Imagine the expense of re-booking a flight and the hassle for you and your family!

I also encourage everyone to do the free pre-arrival services funded by the Canadian government. I actually took classroom sessions by CIIP last month.

Good luck, mga kabayan!

True. Extremely helpful for first time fliers and/or first timers in Canada. I went to the PDOS last week.

Be sure to read the COPR docs carefully too as they have crucial final instructions like the PDOS and landing at Vancouver. :)

Maybe LVOs send out PPRs by batch? Could it be possible?

An observation from the FSW-O April-May AoR thread was the same! We noted deluge of PPRs on certain days of the week: usually Thursday and Friday when we were waiting for our PPRs but there were still those that got theirs on other working days. :)

Anyone going to or have done getting all your Pag-Ibig fund contributions (Application for Provident Fund)? Found the idea from reading around Pinoy blogs, I'm in the process of doing it myself. :)

FYI: those permanently leaving the country may withdraw their Pag-Ibig contributions. Related forms (e.g. Application for Provident Fund) with instructions are on pagibigfund.gov.ph

After months of excruciating wait, PPR at last!

For those who are still waiting, you may contact CIO (but I don’t know the number). Mukhang di naa-update yung MyCIC Accounts naten.

Good luck to all of us!
