Flight ban for Indian students

As of 5 days ago there were 36 Indian strains in Ontario alone with 30 attributed to travel and since it can only get here by travel that means 6 people didn't properly quarantine or 6 people gave the strain to other non-travellers they were quarantining with. Lots of articles and stories about public health at airports doing a terrible job with travellers which is why the message needs to be sent to all those travelling that you should really only be doing so for essential reasons. The situation may be bad in India but clearly here even the government doesn't know how to manage everything.

36 known people infected with the strain since we only do random sampling for variants in community testing. Agree that the government has not done a good job implementing a quarantine system.

Incorrect baseless information. Canada has so far reported below variants across provinces. There might be spread from passengers from India but did not bring new variant into Canada, false allegation.

Indian Variant is B.1.618 which is mostly found in West Bengal state of India. This Variant is new and only found in India so far. Let's not spread wrong information and create panic and hatred towards a country. If that was the case then the whole world should be pointing fingers towards China where it all began.

It is also true the numbers are rapidly increasing in India and Canada as a country wants to protect us which is the right thing to do. When US was going through same situation did we blame that People from US bought new variants to Canada? absolutely no so let's do the right thing of not spreading rumors.

Now because the new variant are rapidly spread, only 1 case can have significant impact to the Community if not isolated. Whether new variant is from Bengal State or other states, its already here in Canada. No one is spreading false accusation, nor rumors or blaiming any country for the variant but justification on boarder restrictions/ suspending flights from hotspots. At the end each country have obligation to protect their border and its residents.

The B1.617 isn’t listed because it hasn’t been determined as a variant of concern in Canada it is still listed as a variant of interest. It is already in Canada. I have included the cases in some province but we have only been screening a random sample so likely underestimated.

B.1.618 is the new variant originated in India and it has not been identified anywhere out of India. Rest of the Variants are prevalent in many countries and it would have crossed Canada by anyone which might include Indians.

I am an Indian and I hate when Indians make such claims like contributing double to the economy. Guys, it's you who made a choice to study there and remember immigration is a privilege not a right! No one forced you to apply to Canada and once you do, you have to remember that you respect that country's law of the land. Covid is causing the disruption, so instead of including race, see where the problem lies, if we as responsible citizens, stayed disciplined till now, then neither would the virus would have been so fatal nor would there be any travel bans.

Canada did nothing wrong to prevent her citizens and fcck me if you were the citizens of Canada already then you would be relieved to hear that the flights got banned from a disease ridden country governed by an egoistic foolish a-hole!! Sorry if I came a bit harsh but that's the ugly truth!! For now just stay at homes and hope this angry covid boiling pot cools down soon so they will allow us to fly!!

US with Population of ~350 Million was choking with Corona Super spread months ago and there is no easy way you could control the spread in India with 1.3 billion Population. If there was a dictator ruling India just like China, may be the spread could have been controlled. Most of Indians do not take anything seriously unless it's too late. Government could only do little in a democratic Country, Every citizen has to be responsible to control the spread. US was also disease ridden country way back then and now it's India. Every other country was at some point disease ridden country. This is pandemic for god sake. All we could do is get vaccinated and stay at home and get those curve flattened.
