Near as I can tell it's valid until October. I think. "Issued Date: 2014/05/28 ... Valid to: 2014/10/15"

Still worried about the FBI cert expiry, but I guess that's not a thing once they receive it and process your app... But the "Valid to" date is the expiry date of the COPR, right? I really have that much time?

Second question: Isn't there some kind of form where you list all the crap you're bringing with you? They didn't send that to me. Where can I get it? And how detailed does it have to be? Can I put "plastic bin o' books" on there or do I have to list every single book?

Also, can I still order case notes? I'm incredibly curious now that I know that's a thing.

Thanks!

Not sure why you are concerned about FBI certs when you have your COPR?

Yes, you can order GCMS notes.

Yes, you MUST land on/before Oct 15. That is when your COPR expires. Do not worry about your FBI certificate, it is no longer an issue. You don't require it any longer now that you have your COPR. You are finished with that part of the process now.

You don't need to be that specific with your B4 forms. You can in fact just say 1 box of books. Or 10 boxes of womans/mans/childs clothing. The ONLY thing they will want specific information for is electronics, such as big screen TV's or something of that like. Make sure you put the serial number down for things of this nature. If you are bringing your car with you, be sure to send the required information to your exit border 72 hours in advance of your arrival so you can have it exported/imported on the same day.

You CAN land and then return for your belongings later just so your COPR does not expire on you.

Follow the link that Zardoz gave you and you can ask after your GCMS notes. Because you are not yet in Canada you will need to pay the $5 fee to get them. If you wait until you have landed in Canada and are with your spouse you can then order them without the $5 charge.

Congratulations on the start of your new journey!

Hmmm... I thought the vehicle import fee was lower than what's being presented on these links. Do I just it's value based on it's CURRENT selling value, or it's original MSRP? Also, do I have to pay import fees on the other goods I bring? (Books, kitchen stuff, PlayStation, etc)

No duties on "settlers" goods, except for brand new stuff (possibly) and certain specific items (vehicles?).

no fees on bringing your car(s) with you for landing or even as goods to follow. Only time they will ask you to pay any duties would be if you went out and bought a bunch of brand new electronics and a brand new car then showed up at the border with it.

The only fees you will be required to pay to bring your car will be the $295 RIV fee (+ taxes, of course) and then any fees incurred to bring car to spec and such and then license/insurance/registration and such but no duties.

I actually am getting a few new appliances by cashing out my Amex points. Small ones, though. Stand mixer, blender, toaster oven. Wonder if they'll complain about that. Everything else is OLD. Monitor is 6 years old, PS3 is from 2006, etc. Car is a 2008 model I bought used a few years ago: A Civic Coupe. That's right, I'm moving with nothing but a Civic COUPE to carry my stuff. I'm getting rid of almost everything. X)

Hey, I moved everything in the hatch of my 2000 Toyota Celica ;) I didn't even put anything in the back seat or anything. I kinda 'snuck' my stuff over the border .. but nothing major, clothing, computers, book, dvds ... I left everything else for my previous roommates! LOL
