Haha, all my US friends are jealous of me being in Canada and want to move here. I don't know a single Canadian who feels that way about the US.

That's because all Canadian who felt so, already moved to US and Americans don't really want to move and are just bitching

Weird seeing this, I'm in Kingston too (though I'm Canadian, sponsoring my wife coming from California, we applied in Jan). TBH it could very well be the city itself not helping out with your situation. I moved here from Ottawa a few years ago for a job and from what I've experienced, this is a notoriously hard town to make friends in. Even though I'm not moving that far away from home like you, it can be a very alienating town. Most people I meet (usually from work) have been here their entire life, so they each have their own established group of friends. It really does feel like a small town in many ways.
