Hi everyone!

I’m in the process of applying for a dependent PR spousal visa (processing timeline: 28 months), and my current work permit is set to expire in August 2025. I’ve just submitted an application for a work permit extension, but I’m a bit unsure about the approval chances considering the PR processing time.

Has anyone here gone through a similar situation? Any advice or insights on what to expect for the work permit extension approval during the PR wait?

Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Applied: Feb.27th.2024
Sponsor: Canadian Citizen
Applicant: Afghanistan
AOR Received: March 4th, 2024

Hello everyone, I was wondering if someone was able to help me out with an issue I have. I applied for spousal Sponsorship for my wife in Afghanistan 1 year ago. 1 week after applying, I got the AOR. On May 8th 2024 she went to Pakistan to do her biometrics. on June 4th 2024 it got accepted. After the biometrics, she received the email to do her medicals on August 23rd 2024. She went to Pakistan and the medicals information was sent to the IRCC on August 28th 2024. The reason my wife is doing all her work in Pakistan is because of the Taliban situation in Afghanistan, there are no offices there to do any sponsorship work so the IRCC has told me that all afghans are required to do all necessary work in Pakistan.

Ever since August 28th, we have been waiting for the passport request email so we can get the visa. In December, I found out that the IRCC wants to do an interview with my spouse in Pakistan and that's the reason she hasn't gotten the passport request email yet. I asked the IRCC when that interview would be and they told me that it could be 1 month later or it could be 1 year later. they don't have any idea themselves on when it could be.

The application we submitted was outland so it was only supposed to take 10-12 months for the whole process to finish but now its been 12 months and we still don't know when this interview will be.

My question is, has anyone else had this type of issue? Does anyone know when we can expect the email for the interview? Does anyone know why they are taking so long to send that email??

I have emailed IRCC multiple times but they aren't getting back to me. the only thing they are saying is that an interview is needed but they themselves don't know when it will be.

If your application is scheduled (to be scheduled) for an interview, it means that's not considered as a routine process. The average processing time do not apply to you.

Your post is long but it doesn't give any details on your application. (Where PA gets biometric and medical done is NOT relevant)
E.g. how long have you been in a relationship with PA. Are you applying under common law or spousal (married).
Is that an arranged marriage? How long have you known each other? How many time you visited your spouse/partner.
Was a traditional celebration done or was it a court marriage if married.
etc.
