Hi Guys,

I have applied through new process for family sponsorship on 10th FEB 2017
I received AOR1 and my wife (Principal Applicant) received mail to LINK HER APPLICATION within 7 DAYS.

Just want to know, Can I (sponsor) link my wife's application to her account using her GCKey and other information?
My wife is not active on the internet much, I don't want to make any mistake/miss any communication so I thought if I can do the needful.

Has anyone done that before?

I (sponsor) opened up an account using GCKey and have linked our app for spousal sponsorship. My partner didn't open up an account, so we have the one account and I have been checking for electronic updates. When it comes time for him to upload documents (i.e. the next one would be the Schedule A Background Check forms), I will just give him the info to access the account (username, password, answers to security questions, so he can upload that form, which he has to fill out). My partner and I are applying the outland route so we are currently not living together.

If your wife started the account, then she will have to give you the information I mentioned above. And if she has to also upload forms like the Schedule A, then she does need internet access to get into the account just to do this one part, or else you will have to fill the form out for her and get her consent to sign electronically. There may also be other documents to upload later on, in which case you will have to do it if she does not have internet access or can't do it.

Otherwise it's probably fine if you are the one who holds the account.

Hi,

Understand your situation with doing the process through your account for yourself and husband, but I'm afraid to link through my account (sponsor) as my wife (PA) also has created an account. My thought is to link through her account to (in my mind) make it easier and less likely for confusion.

Hi majesty,

Thank you so much for the detailed answer.
Ours is outland application and hence for she is not with me. We have sent everything including PCC and schedule A Background and upfront medical as well.
I hope they won't request it again. She has her own GCKey account and i will take information to access it and will keep my eagle eye on it so that we won't delay from our end.
Was worried a bit since I'm in Canada and she is in India, would it be a good idea to access her account from here? I just want to make sure CIC won't bother if account is being accessed via CANADIAN I.P. Address. Doest it hurt application anyway?

I'm not 100% sure if it's a problem using a Canadian IP address, but I would think that if it's just the one account that is used, it doesn't matter where you access it from as it is both yours and your wife's application. I don't know if other people usually have both sponsor and applicant holding their own accounts if each person can link their application to their own accounts (or if that is possible).

To me, each couple would have one account and no matter who set up the account, I would think both partners could use it no matter where they are.

Maybe someone else has some insight into this?

Just to tell you, I'm already PR and I don't have any account since I don't need it.
I just created her account and thought if I access it and link application.

What was the reason it was returned, just mailed mine last week just want to be ready with any result.

Ours was received Feb 8. No nothing yet. Cant get to gckey.. if it will be send back do they wait 2weeks or more to send it back?

I have checking my status on the cic website and below is what my status
The following section is for the sponsor:
We received your application to sponsor Xxxxxxxxxxx on December 23, 2016. This means CPC-M received your application on that date
We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on January 10, 2017. They sent you either by mail or email a letter to inform you that they received your application=AOR1
We started processing your application on January 10, 2017. They started working on your application


And regarding my permanent residence
This section is for the Principal Applicant:
We received Xxxxxxxx application for permanent residence on December 23, 2016. They sent you either by mail or email a letter to inform you that they received your application=AOR1
Medical results have been received. They received your medical that you must have sent with your application (upfront)


What does that mean, please i need a help and what should i do

Your should next be receiving your Sponsor Approval (SA) from CPC-M

Once they approve the person sponsoring as a sponsor. I can't exactly tell you how long it can take, I personally received SA around 3 weeks after they received my application (you can see my timeline on the left side of this message).
