Hey guys,

I've got one question about ECAS.
I received SA on Apr 5 and my spouse's status was updated last Thursday so now it says "IN PROCESS" for both sponsor and PR side.
However, the third line "We have started processing your application..." is still missing on the PR side.

I'm not too worried about this but is this an usual occurrence?

Thanks ;D
This simply means you have not gotten AOR2 yet.

Nothing to be concerned with.

Hi guys, we applied in February, and received a request for additional documents on April 6th which we provided on April 11th
I am just wondering what the next ECAS Staus update would be? When i log in with the Sponsors UCI it hasn't even updated to the 4th line, the additional doc's request yet. But loging in with the Applicants UCI we see this

Permanent Residence

We received your application for permanent residence on February 23, 2016.
We started processing your application on April 5, 2016.
Medical results have been received.
We sent you correspondence on April 6, 2016. If you have not yet provided the information or the requested documents, please do so as soon as possible. Please wait until you receive the correspondence before sending us additional information, as the correspondence will outline all information that is required.

Does anyone know what stage we are? Are they running criminal checks, security checks? Did we pass Eligibility?
I THINK next would be PPR since Peru is not Visa Exempt, and that's what the 2015 Spreadsheet shows, but I wanted to double check with you guys.
Thank You!

Interesting...

My wife is here with me in Canada and instead of sending it to Warsaw (Home Country), they are processing it here in Mississauga. I do not think that it has anything to do with the fact that she is here with me in Canada though. I was expecting it to get sent to Warsaw.

Hello Everyone,

If your wife/husband is in canada on a visitor visa or student visa, typically CIC will send file to the spouse's home country visa office, and not to the CPC-ottawa office if you are applying OUTLAND.

However, once you get the approuval and request for the passport without INTERVIEW, you may go ahead and send it to CPC-ottawa for a visa stamp. You will not need to go back to your country to get the visa.
It will clearly say on the instructions sheet anyways.

Once you get the visa, you can go to US borders and back to perform the "landing process" and become a PR..

Good Luck

Sounds like they are at the additional documents stage (awaiting your documents) - after this it would be criminal check (obviously, if they asked you for criminal check in the additional documents, then they cannot proceed until you have provided them).

This is where you should be at :)

Thank You mega! Do you think that means we past eligibility?
They started processing on April 5th, asked for criminal checks on April 6th.
On one hand i doubt that it only takes 1 day for eligibility. But on the other hand, would they work on/request criminal docs if eligibility isn't passed yet?

Simply means that you passed the additional document request (as they sent you the request). That means that once you submit these documents your file will now be complete and they will proceed to check your criminality.

Eligibility cannot be determined this early in the process as part of that requirement is the criminal check. Which is usually the part that takes the longest depending on the file (how many background checks they need to run based on where your spouse has lived). Once this is completed. Eligibility can be determined.

Hope this helps :)

May I ask (we haven't submitted yet, but will soon) - does anyone have an idea about the percentage of applications accepted in the spousal sponsorship programme? (also, on the forms, how exactly did you call the category you are immigrating in? was it family class sponsorship - spousal sponsorship, or something else?)

I am curious whether the quotas there are for each year - the max number of people Canada grants PR from spousal sponsorship each year, have an actual impact on the number of rejected applications. In other words, if one has a good, strong application, what is the risk of it being rejected anyways because of the quotas?

You won't be rejected simply because of the target quota CIC has for spousal sponsorship. The approval rate varies by VO but overall I believe it's around 86%. Out of those 14% of refused cases another 50% are approved upon appeal. If you have a legitimate relationship the odds are heavily in your favour of getting the PR.

Thanks for the info. I am also curious, are there any of these statistics you are mentioning available anywhere? I have to say, on the one hand it seems like the number of people CIC says will accept seems quite big, on the other - I don't know how many applications there are going to be. And I wonder, do you know of anyone who was rejected just because of the quota?

On the whole though, I do agree there would have to be a good reason, and a strong application should make one hopeful!

So good luck all you guys! :)

Just received a request for additional documents.

Dear XXXXXXXXX:

This is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada.

In order for us to continue the processing of your application, we require the following document:

- Copy of your Marriage Certificate (not your Marriage Commissioner’s Statement of Marriage). In order to apply for a Marriage Certificate, please go to the following website:
<link omitted>

The above document must be received in our office within 45 days from the date of this letter.

If we do not receive a response within the time allotted to you from the date of this notice, a decision will be made based on the information on your file, which could result in the refusal of your application.

Please reply directly to this email and put your application number in the title.

Sincerely,

Case Processing Centre-Ottawa
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada – Government of Canada
E-mail: CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca
So this means I should be able to just scan the marriage certificate and send it as an attachment directly in the email reply? I've heard a lot of people being able to send scans/attachments for documents requests once the application has been received. Just making sure I don't screw up causing more delays. :)

Thanks!

Yes, you can scan and send. I would also photocopy and mail it to CPC-O too.
