I received an email from CIC confirming that they received the application and assigned a file number.Sheps said:I just want to ask, all those that received "Acknowledgement", was it actually a email from CIC which is your Aknowledgement of Receipt, or are you just saying it was signed for at CIC by a third party carrier.
The first is actually AOR, the second doesn't mean anything. I have to ask because the one person mentioned " signed for" which doesn't sound like AOR, it sounds like some mail clerk received it.
I suspect around May, but keeping my fingers crossed that it is sooner than that! Our file arrived on the 19th. According to the website they are currently looking at December files.marina_quelle said:How long do you think it will take for CIC to get to the February applications? Our file arrived at the Mississauga office on February 9th.
but how is that possible, don't they organize the application the date that they are recieved; how can they skip some files and move ahead to later ones. On their website it states they are currently looking at December filesrugrat907 said:There's someone in the January 2015 thread that got the AOR very quickly as well and SA was just a few days behind. i think it's important to remember that although the website says a certain date is being processed, that certainly doesn't mean ALL applications received BEFORE that date are finished processing. The applications are batched, and handed out accordingly. reasons why some applications are processed quicker than others:sohaib1 said:but how is that possible, don't they organize the application the date that they are recieved; how can they skip some files and move ahead to later ones. My wife don't work nowadays.rhcohen2014 said:i think it's important to remember that although the website says a certain date is being processed, that certainly doesn't mean ALL applications received BEFORE that date are finished processing. The applications are batched, and handed out accordingly. reasons why some applications are processed quicker than others:
1) the length of time it takes CIC to confirm background checks on sponsors (obviously it's easier to get information on a sponsor that has only lived/worked in canada and/or 1 province than someone who has lived/worked abroad or in multiple provinces)
1b) the length of time it takes CIC to receive information back from other agencies about the sponsor (ie: welfare checks, overseas residency, etc)
2) the work habits of each officer - there are more than 1 officers handling files. just like all human beings, some officers work quicker than others.
3) certainly, if the officer is waiting on information for file a, it is hard to believe they will wait to complete that file before moving on to files b, c, and d.
it is not personal, it is just how it works. think about when you are at work. do you finish your assignments in exactly the same amount of time as all of your co-workers? do you have the same abilities as them? if you're waiting on something do you just sit and wait for that information before starting your next task/project? probably not. CIC is no exception. these are human beings doing a job. it's important to remember it's not as cut and dry you think it is just because you sent them all the information in a package. they have protocols to follow, information to input, requests to wait on, etc. since each application is unique, not everyone is going to experience the same thing.
i have no idea. as stated above, there are MANY factors that affect the speed of processing. it's not just about 1 thing. it's about the entire application. stop trying to figure out "why". accept that you will probably never know "why" CIC does anything.DanSlh said:My wife don't work nowadays.
Do you think it's quicker than others in this case?
Even there's no minimum income, I hope the fact she's not working right now, don't be an issue.rhcohen2014 said:i have no idea.
there are many unemployed people who successfully sponsor their spouse.DanSlh said:Even there's no minimum income, I hope the fact she's not working right now, don't be an issue.
We explained our plans. Hope there's no "but" for CIC.
