I was just wondering, once you're approved as a sponsor and your application transfers to a VO, can they still ask for extra evidence of a genuine relationship, or photos, or documents.. and can they refuse the visa?

We are sitting in a similar boat. I was so hopefull! When we sent our app. away it was only 55 days approval time and then off to Berlin. Now it's well over 90 days, they closed Berlin, and my oldest son starts school in Sept. in Canada. And that leaves me with no choice but to move to Canada in August with my two small kids and start up our life there alone. Leaving my wife is hard enough, but having to take my kids away from their mother is a horrible feeling. She is the main bread winner and has to work, she can't just leave her job and sit around in Canada waiting for CIC to get their act together. My wife and I are so frustrated about this we both could and have cried about it.

I know... I have sort of been wishing that the company my husband works for would shut down his office so we would get a severance package and unemployment so we could move up to Canada now and have him just visit until the approval goes through... We talked about me and the kids moving up before but I just can't see it worth it to move me and three little one's up and be a single parent just so my oldest doesn't have to change schools mid year... I might be more willing if he was in high school or something but seeing as he is starting kindergarten I'm ok with a transfer...lol

My son starts grade 1, and we discussed moving him mid-year as well, but it is going to be tough enough with the language change and trying to adapt to a completely different system...we figured it is best for him to start fresh with everyone else in Sept. It is going to be tough, on everyone but we already started everything, there is no going back now. And unfortunately, CIC doesn't care about stuff like that.

Yes.....the CIC in Canada only approves the sponsorship and it is up to the VO to go through all the supporting documentation and decide whether or not an interview is needed and/or more documentation......

It depends on the visa office. It takes 2-3 weeks to get there by mail. Some get AOR right away. Some don't get AOR, just PPR. Some wait awhile for AOR. You need to find people who have the same VO.

I finally got my sponsorship approval letter from CIC-M on June 7. It took 102 days for approval. 90 days on the CIC website is just not accurate. Anyone knows how long its taking for the PPT request to come through from the New Delhi office ?
Thanks
