OK I'm not sure I understand.

You're saying the 9 pics are OK even if they are more than 1 year old?

Now the unanswered question, what about the passport pics? None were requested of her...

There are 2 different sets of photos.

You take 4 to the doctor for the medical. If I remember correctly one of them gets glued to the form they give you to include with your app, the other 3 must be affixed to other places in the file they send to the embassy.

The 9 photos you send with your app are used by CIC in processing your app. Where they go I have no idea. But those are the ones you have to sign and date and all that. My wife doesn't have her Visa yet so I don't know if one of those photos ends up there or not.

You said they might need a new medical and one of the reasons is the photos are old. Then the photos to be replaced would be the 4 that you need to take to the medical. So the 9 with the app should still be ok (and you said they have not asked for replacements).

I think the main purpose of the 4 pictures for the medical and why they need to be recent is that they are the only way to confirm that the person who showed up for the medical was the actual applicant. For instance, if you had a medical condition you wanted to hide you might hire someone to take your exam. But the doctor would see the that the picture doesn't match the person he is examining and wouldn't do the exam. If you try to fool the doctor by providing photos of the hired person then they wouldn't match the photos in your application and CIC would know something was up.

Of course if in doubt there is always the CIC information line to get a definitive answer.

Also I was looking at St. Lukes and checking what they ask for and they mention 6 pictures...

The new system is supposed to be automated and since St. Lukes is the only place listed on the CIC site now for medicals in Manila I would imagine that means they are already set up for it.

Gud ev po salahat ako po naguguluhan ask lang po kapag po ba approved na papel nyo ano po susunod na gagawin?at ilang taon po bago matanggap ang Visa kasi po family ko mag 1 year na ala pa po kami natatangap after na approved papers namin! Thanks po!

i have a question does anybody knows once you redo the medical aftre how long you are going to hear from the embassy , my hubby has to redo his medical on February 05, and i am just wondering how long i have to wait after that to hear a news,
VO told us, the backround check , is done , evrything is fine, only the medical has to redo

I'm not sure what St. Lukes is, I'm guessing a hospital that supports the new system.

I'm not sure what that means for extending the medical, how that's going to affect it?

we need a bit more info on you first.......what country is your VO? What does your ECAS say online?

You can see your status by logging in to ecas.

Updated ours to 12 months (from 8 ).

I think that's based on the new system. We're still with the old system.

UCI is your file number. Log on to ECAS and type in your UCI number + the other information required such as Family name, date of birth etc. This will tell you the status of your application. Website to use to log on is

Well they updated everything including going electronic. Since many of the times went up, I'm guessing this is why. I didn't look into it more. I could be wrong, this could be a coincidence.
