Hello Everyone,

I hope you don't mind me posting here. I have been on a different forum for a while, but have read pretty much everything that has some relevance to my situation and decided to check out somewhere else!! I still have to get caught up on this thread, but thought I'd say hi first!

We sent our Application on February 4th 2011, was received Mississauga on February 7th. My husband was approved to Sponsor me on March 4th and our application was then sent to the London office, where it was received on March 9th. Trying hard not to obsessively check Ecas, but it usually gets the better of me haha

Look forward to getting to know everyone and hearing about your progress! I hope we all get our PR in a hurry haha

I would also agree with cdngirl...it's ok if u hv just chat logs...but print as much as possible...atleast 1 chatlog for every week...for the time u've known ur husband...
I got my husband a vonage phone(which is in my name) and I explained it in a letter and said it's used in india though it's in my name ..I got all the call activity for the last 6 mnths and just one wk as a sample for the last 2 yrs( it was already abt 10 pgs) but that's our main source of communication...we don't send many emails..so I printed whatever we had..online orders of gifts sent to him..cards...boarding passes...pics...just 3 crd from him to me and 3 from me to him...just looked good enough with all that...didn't want to go over board!

I just want to ask, i chat with my husband everyday since we knw each other online... we seldom send emails to each other, we are more on chatting, do i have to save our chatting in word then print every page??? i can't imagine how many it will be because we're chatting every day since 2009 ... should i print everything and include it in the package?? and it is already in WORD (do u think its ok)... I am not sure which messenger you are using to chat, although word doc. should be fine but if I were you I would print the chats directly from the webpage where the chat logs are saved. I printed our chat logs from google talk right off the webpage, I mean just a precautionary measure here as anything can be added or edited in the word doc but printing it straight from the webpage if its possible would be a better source of evidence.

Printing directly from a web page is no more of a guarantee of originality than printing a word document, CIC know that both are easily edited.

Not really, not all chat logs can be edited, it depends on the messenger used, even then unless the chat logs are exported into word format, its hard to define the date stamps of when the chats took place due to the format. Although some chat logs can be edited in webpage, the format and date stamps are well defined even if chat logs are forged in both formats. As an auditor I would be inclined to check the genuineness of word doc more than a webpage but well as I said...'for precautionary measure' its best to avoid filling IO's mind with suspicion.

No, "really" they can all be edited.
If you print anything even from a "locked" and "secure" web page, the "print" can be captured and edited.
FWIW on an Apple Mac this is no more effort than a mouse click and naming a file.

You may be inclined to view things the way you do, but even as an auditor, you would be wrong.

CIC are already aware of this, so as I said before, either type document is treated with the same "suspicion".

What does it mean if the address of my sponsor now shows on my ecas? Does this mean someone physically touched my application? The reason I am asking is because the letter my sponsor got in the mail said we passed stage 1 and it was forwarded to London and our visa office is Buffalo.

Now it makes me wonder if the letter was wrong and they really sent it to Buffalo or if they re routed it pretty fast...unless the address update doesn't mean they physically touched the package....does anyone know? It would be great to know the application is now where it is supposed to be (Buffalo) versus London.

weellll....chat logs is just one of the source..definately we will have telephone and other proofs.....so whatever we can submit ....submit..rest leave it to cic... if they need anything they will ask anyways.......

Turns out we were the ones needing the luck of the Irish, as our eCAS went active on March 18 saying processing had started on March 17. Still awaiting that all important "decision made" line though.

I am quite willing and happy to allow and accept your "I told you so"

Thanks I'll pass along your comments to Mom she is such a doting Mom and as they all do loves to show off her kids. Believe me she would be posting hundred of pics in every online album haha

I am sure all will work out for you as well, remember the "be positive" mantra you instilled in me... keep us posted on your progress.

Ok is this normal? I am not complaining but in reading through all the threads that directly pertain to our process I have not seen anyone mention this yet.

I just received an email from the Singapore office to inform us that they received our application on March 17th (pretty cool being both my son's birthdays a couple of years apart of course) and had begun processing it. I thought they would send us some kind of a letter with a client ID for her etc.. or is this just the heads up the letter is coming?

Confusing process to say the least.

Oh and for the guys/gals talking about printing etc of chat logs, in fact NOT all can be edited for example if they are printed from an executable source and sent from that to a printer, but most do save the details in some sort of a exported format. Which lends itself to tampering. You might want to consider using screen shots instead, although as with ANY image you can photoshop them etc, they are much harder to do well unless you are a PS wizard and of course you could screen cap months of log activity at a time and then print out a sample chat from each week/month whatever. The point is none of this stuff is fool proof and anything that is created by a machine can be manipulated by a machine how well only depends on the operator of the mouse in question...

We do this on a regular basis, to provide a mandatory audit print log - a printer is an only output stream and can be captured.

Also with OSX, output is generally PDF anyway.

But I am happy to disagree, back to the thread.

Maybe we can settle on - the most reliable items of proof in CIC's eyes are original documents.
They are certainly a preference over digital anything.

BangkokCanuck, about that email from the Singapore office - it seems with the migration to the Global Case Management System, CIC is also being a bit more modern in its approach to keeping "clients" aware of the status of their applications. So people are seeing a line in eCAS now that tells them their file was transferred to the overseas office on X date, or in your case, you have an email.

I am waiting to see if my visa office does likewise, either a line in eCAS or an email. Either would be so much more preferable to waiting on Jamaica Post to bring me an AOR, as Kingston has not been too diligent about issuing those! Oh well, let's wait and see.

Oh, and just to chime in on that business about documents being manipulated, as an accountant/auditor myself, I know I don't trust anything that isn't obtained from an objective source (meaning, not my clients) very far.
