Hi Akheya and all Feb Applicants,

I hope thus post will provide answers to how the process works to my understanding and can be used as a reference point just seen the same question floating around again and again. The process from my understanding goes in 6 stages :

1) You complete the application as per instructions and send it to Sydney , NS to the provided address.
2) The only way for you to know at this point if CIC received the application successfully is if you asked for a signature option or tracked it, if the tracker from the courier shows delivered and if you paid for signature and see it, it effectively gives you peace of mind it is now in CIC hands.
3) CIC at this stage will perform preliminary checks in your app, opening it, doing a quick scan to ensure the correct fees are paid, all required paperwork is there etc. If something is not right your application will be returned to you, this seems to happen really quick of late compared to 2-3 months before. CIC will also initiate background checks at this stage.
4) Applicants will receive an e-mail AoR (Acknowledgement of Receipt) [This used to take about 2-4 months but seems to be speeding up we have to keep an eye on the Jan guys as that will give us more data and indication how fast this goes]. This is the stage where your file is assigned to a CO (Citizenship officer) who will proceed with the case further. Also about 3-5 days of receiving the email AoR your online account (ECAS) should be active. You can then login online and track the status of your application (you can use your Client UCI number to log in. )
5) If all is ok with your file it will get transferred to your local office whose job is to check their schedules and arrange a Test date, you should receive the test invitation by snail mail but also see movement in the online application.
6) Once you successfully pass the test on test day, an officer will hold a short interview to check all your documents are fine, update the information and then it should be another 1-2 months fot oyu to get your oath invite.

- I hope this will help as a reference point, sp for now we wait and see how Jan goes.
Certainly does help! So, when we send it in, does it get opened right away? THEN put in the queue? or does it just get put in without opening at all?

I am just getting paranoid because I put in address slightly differently than what it stated (Although it was delivered to 47 Dorchester according to FedEx).

I put Case Processing, CIC - Grant Adults, 49 Dorchester street, Sydney B1P5Z2.

Any insight would be good :)

Hey ScubaC,

47 and 49 Dorchester are the same connected buildings so if FedEx shows it was delivered then it has been received in the right place. A person had a thread up on the address thing a while back where he followed up with FedEx and informed of the matter. When was your application received? I cannot say if they open it immediately but I assume they place it in a queue for a person to open and check it, if things are missing reading on different posts it seems anywhere between 2 days to a week now they return the application, it is still early for Feb applicants so hang tight till at least first week of March.

Cool! samreentariq, +1 for you.

Also, quick Q - the point 4 above (issuing AOR)
- is it done by CPC Sydney?
- So, is it safe to assume this process (until AOR) is same for every applicant, irrespective of the locality he/she is applying from?
- so, the speed of processing in GTA/Ontario/etc not applicable until AOR - since its common for all?

Thnx.

Hey Boltz,

Yes that should be the case. Based on feedback provided by various members on their month specific threads most mentioned the ECAS updates go AOR first, -> 'In process' message -> File Transferred to local office. So based on that I believe CPC Sydney is the one who mails out the AoR, does preliminary BG checks and assigns to a CO who might proceed to check and see if any RQ flags are triggered for you. If all goes well it then gets transferred to your local office who might do another short check and assign you a Test and Oath date, though based off your interview with the officer after your test you could be given the new mini RQ form but you return this to your local office who checks it further.

The document checklist states the courier address as 49 Dorchester, Nova Scotia Sydney. I am confused as to why you guys think it should be 47? I mailed my app to 49 Dorchester yesterday. Would appreciate your response on this.

Hi Htayyab,

47 and 49 Dorchester are the same building. There are multiple threads on this through out the forum if you search on Address, there was one htread by a member where he sent via FedEx to 49 Dorchester and it was shown as delivered to 47. Long story short it does not matter both are the same building.

I sent my kids' application (together with mine) to CPC, CIC - Grant Adults. Hopefully, they will be processed without any problems.

Hi,

We are currently working on our citizenship application and there is one thing we need some help with. We are applying for citizenship for 2 adults and one child. One of the requirements is that we need to attach 2 pieces of identification one f which has to have a photo on it. Now for our child we only have his PR card with his picture on it however that will be attached anyways as it is another requirement. So I wonder how I can get another iD for our son that has a picture on it. He can't get an ID card yet in Alberta since he is 8 years old (he must be 12 or older to get an ID card here). I asked his school if they have a school record of him with a picture on it but they said they don't have anything like that. The other identification document will be his Health Care card but what about the other one that requires to have a photo on it? Or would his PR card plus his Health Care card enough for CIC?
If you have any idea, please share it with me.

Thanks a lot!

Christine
He don't have a passport? If he have then thats enough for an ID with photo.

Let me join the Feb 2015 Club, from Montreal :)

Sent application last week and they received it on Friday. Only sent documents they asked for nothing more nothing less. Had comfortable count with 1 and quarter month extra on day counts.

How long will it take to get an AOR ? a month ?

Also reading the forum and topic it seam there is now only 1 step procedure and it should take less then 12 months to complete all ? is it true ?

GL to everyone :)

Unable to update the spreadsheet, I sent my application through Canada Post - Express, if somebody would please help me do it. Thanks.

Also, if the spreadsheet is in chronological order based on application received, 'Christine32' needs to be corrected.
