This has now turned into the silliest thread on the forum. Hahahahahaha!

I used to be a "damn yankee" too, but like magic one day, they forgot where I was born. I was just another one of the gang. Probably around the time I stopped insisting shopping carts weren't "buggies."

Canada needs a Waffle House, preferably down the street from my house. This will become my new business plan. I shall bring Waffle House to Canada. Hmmm grits. <3

If Canada made it easier for Americans, you'd have the rednecks pissed off at Obama flooding the border with their guns and Confederate flags.
Nah...I can't see that happening. True southerners of the redneck variety know that Canada's far too liberal of a place for them to enjoy. They'd have to leave most of their guns at home, and if that wasn't enough to dissuade them, the fact that they wouldn't be able to carry them around would certainly do it. That's actually one of the reasons I'd like to get dual citizenship one day - it'd be so cool to be able to walk around with a gun in a holster and know that you won't automatically be deemed a criminal. I'm planning on building a vacation cabin somewhere in the mountains, and there are lots of places out west that are very appealing...like Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Alaska.

I think I'd get along quite nicely with the folks down in the south, but I would never survive the heat. I need my snow, my skis, and my bone-chilling winter air to feel truly content.

We've decided to go to a law enforcement office nearby me which does electronic printing that they transfer to a paper finger print card. I'm hoping it will work. I'll do it in a week or so, and let you know how it goes... it's called "Liveprint"...

Take this from experience...... They think moving to Canada to escape Obama is a good idea. My dad wanted to do it. He had no idea about the healthcare system until I told him. That ended that conversation quickly. They also seem to have this view that they can 'move' to Canada as opposed to immigrate......

I never had a gun (never held one, don't really care to) but I was allowed to carry my 2.5 inch blade knife concealed in my purse. :D Now it stays in my dresser drawer. It was a gift and has a lot of sentimental value, so carrying it around was just like carrying around your blanky as a child.....hehe.

NicAnn, I'm going to try to ink prints again since it's a free re-print in my case. If that doesn't work, I'm going to look into the electronic scan. Personally, I think the lady just did a bad job because I know I can be fingerprinted.

Please advice

I sent in my fingerprint application about 2 and a half weeks ago. At the time, it didn't occur to me to get a tracking number or anything. Now I have no idea if they received my application. I keep checking my credit card to see if fbi took out $18.00 and they haven't. Is there any way I can check to see if they received my application?

Thank you

I believe the FBI won't charge your card until they have successfully pulled your file. Meaning your report is ready. I don't know about calling them although I'm considering it myself if this set comes back negative as well.

Their website didn't say anything about how to check the status of the background check request or anything. I am not sure if they would or could tell me if I call either. I guess I will wait another week or 2 and then I will have to figure something out.

Thanks for your reply, amikety

Does anybody know how to contact FBI regarding the status of my background check? I can't find a phone number anywhere.

Thanks!

Any questions regarding this matter should be directed to the CJIS Customer Service Group at (304) 625-5590.

I noticed the CIC website also mentions the processing times are now 16-18 weeks long.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/united-states.asp

However, the FBI website still listsl 5-6 weeks, so if you call, maybe check that too.

Thanks Amikety, for the information. I called them and they can't find my application. They said to call back in a week or so. I mailed the application exactly one month ago. They should have received it about 3 weeks ago and I think I should be in the system already. Since they can't find it, they probably never got my applicaton. :( I ll probably have to do it all over again.

So anybody who will be going through fbi background check, please please remember to get a tracking number for your application!

Did you call the FBI background check office directly?

Just because you have this opinion doesn't mean it's accurate. They may not log acceptance until they are prepared to deal with the application directly. They may not consider the backlog "received." Did you ask the office about this?

Hi Freshman,

2 1/2 weeks isn't a very long time yet. It took about a month for them to send me a letter back to say they didn't accept my prints and to resubmit another set. I sent mine through UPS and got a tracking number because I like to be able to see and verify that a real person signed for it but then I still had to wait, and wait...and wait some more.
