Guys, looks like some better news. Today the customer rep told me that my request has entered their processing database and it could take 2-3 weeks from now. Subsequently later in the day I saw a charge on my Credit card for the fees amount too. Let's see what happens next and in how many days.

Sent on 30th Oct 09, received by FBI on 2nd Nov 09.
Congrats.
It took about thirteen weeks to get the credit card charged, man this is really time consuming.

Delighted for you buddy....but that means that it will take another 6 weeks atleast for my application to get processed. Last i heard from them was a couple of days ago with the same reply that the application was recd on Nov 23rd and is waiting to be processed. Not in the database yet.

I applied for UK, India and FBI PCC on the same date i.e. mailed it out on Nov 11th 2009. Got my UK pcc on early dec with a process date of Dec 2nd ( which means it will expire on march 2nd). No word from VFS Montreal or Indian high commission-Ottawa. Sent them e-mails...no reply :'(

Do i go ahead and send the UK PCC to the consulate? Not sure how to time this right.

Actually, a little less than 12 weeks to get the credit card charged and given the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year holidays, effectively 11 weeks and to their acknowledgement, if the mode of payment is Credit card, it could add a couple of days, so roughly 10 weeks. So, don't go by their word that the normal processing time is 8-10 weeks. It is surely 12-14 weeks and they are not acknowledging that.

Unless UK PCC says it is valid only for three months and will expire on 2nd March, it will not expire for CHC purposes.
The Canadian Immigration instruction guide says PCC should not be older than three months from date of application to CIO, please see page 19 of instruction guide
"When you submit the application to the visa office please ensure that your certificates were not issued more than three months before you submitted your application to the CIO."

No mtlguy, it could happen earlier if your mode of payment was Cashier's Check or Bank Draft. Also don't worry about the expiry of your PCC. None of them will expire. The requirement is that non of your PCCs should have been more than 3 months old when you made your initial application to the CIO. I had made the same mistake in interpretation as you and that is why had waited till Nov to apply for FBI. If I had applied earlier I wouldn't have been in this spot.

Will double check it and also talk to my lawyer abt it...glad to know that. Since i applied for PCC's almost at the same time the applications were mailed out i guess i could wait to get all 3 PCC's and mail them with the RPRF.

Garian...noted ur msg...i paid the fees with a money order...not sure how to track if they have cashed it...any input???

Hey,not sure your situation. But for me, they requested UK PCC and FBI,medicals, RPRF in the letter. They also suggested everything should be included in a package. However, they pointed out that they understand FBI could take longer than 2 months (their deadline) so I can send FBI seperately later. I would interprete that if everything is ready except FBI, you can go ahead to send them first and add FBI later on. Just make sure you do not miss the deadline though. Mine is NY office.

update on my case.

The CSA e-mailed me today saying that my file is waiting to be processed...i sent a strong e-mail...got a ph call from FBI stating that they are processing my file and that a decision should be made in a week.

Looks like the right hand has no clue abt what the left hand was doing ::)

Overall happy...hope to receive FBI clearance in 10 days or so. Will keep you guys updated.

FYI...documents recd by FBI on 23rd Nov 2009.
