I am a permanent resident of Canada. I have a 4 year old daughter back in South Africa that I listed on my application for permanent residency. She did all the medicals etc, but she is not comming to Canada before her 18th birthday. She is living with her mother in South Africa. I was never married to the mother. I would like to sponsor her to come to Canada after finishing school.

I have a sister that is currently on an au pair visa in the USA, but who also want to move to Canada. Can I sponsor my sister without jeopardising my rights to sponsor my daughter in 14 years time????

You can not sponsor your sister then. Even if your parents were deceased I don't think you could sponsor your sister as you have a daughter who you could sponsor.

Thanks for the answer although its very disappointing to me.

If she has au pair experience in the US, perhaps she can come here on a similar visa for caretakers eventually, it's something you can look into. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/caring-children.asp

and look into live-in caregivers: http://www.cic.gc.ca/ENGLISH/work/caregiver/index.asp

And you must sponsor your daughter BEFORE her 19th birthday, or you cannot sponsor her.
