Hi everyone,

Good day to you all! I need to inquire with regards to my sister's application for Family Sponsorship. She passed away last Nov 2021 of breast cancer with COVID-19 complications while her application was ongoing. My last update to immigration during the time when she was diagnosed of cancer. Unfortunately after 7 months she passed away and during that time I was not able to update IRCC due to griefing and mourning, arranging the funeral and went back home brought the ashes to her family, and just came back here in Canada. I am planning to update and write a letter with regards to my sister's passing. Currently received an email from IRCC a letter stating that "She met the requirements for eligibility to sponsor" and the request of medical for the husband-principal applicant and 3 dependent children. My concern is the following:

1.) Are we able to continue the application though the sponsor dies? I'm afraid that it will cancel the application.
2.) What will I do first? Should I let the family members proceed with the medical? Or wait from IRCC to reply?

I'm the authorized representative of the application and wanted to make sure I'm doing the right thing. Please advise. Thank you very much

1. If the sponsor is now deceased, the application will be refused. You must inform CIC, don't proceed with medicals.

Unfortunately the sponsorship is no longer possible. You will be asked to provide your sister’s death certificate when you send in the webform indicating that she has passed and that the application must now be withdrawn. If

As others have replied, it's better to update IRCC and withdraw the application.
Without the sponsor, the application cannot proceed.
If you withdraw now, you can get most of the fees refunded.

I already updated IRCC with regards to the death of my sister and its been 15 days no reply yet. What will I do?

It usually takes a long time for IRCC to reponse. Assume that you won't be sponsored and continue with your life. Don't wait for a reponse.

It took over a year for the fee of a previous sponsorship application that we withdrawn to refund.

Hello all,
I submitted my application for spousal dependent PR for my wife. It returned with one letter saying police clearance certificate is missing. Do we need to submit police clearance certificate along with application? I have knowledge that they send message requesting Police clearance certificate later during process. Please someone help me in this situation..

Did you submitted spousal sponsorship for your wife (you are already a PR/citizen)?

I think some of the documents can be country specific. But in general, PCC is request later on the process. I wonder why it's returned.

Many countries PCC is required upfront, with the main application. I think ti's more rare to do later, for countries that will not provide without a request letter (of sorts) eg from IRCC / High Commission / Embassy (mind, it's some quite significant countries).

Anyway: all applicants should assume PCC upfront unless it's specifically stated it's later.

sorry for the misleading information. It's by-request for the ones that I sent. I think that's country specific.

Yes, it is country by country - just wanted to underline that everyone should check BEFORE sending their application in, as getting ti sent back really delays everything . And triple check.
