Extensions of visitor status

Hello,

My soon to be common law spouse is from Japan and is here on a working holiday visa. We are living together now, but only for four months. When her working holiday runs out, she's going to apply for a visitor visa. When that 6 months runs out, we will have been living together for almost exactly a year (a few days over)

So a few questions for all the people with knowledge here.
1) When I mail in the application for common law sponsorship, can we include a request for a visitor visa extension to keep my gfs status in Canada valid? We are going to be applying outland. How much time will this buy my gf to stay in Canada, on average?

2) After the application is mailed off, can I travel out of Canada without my gf?

Thank you so much everyone, much appreciated.

Well when you apply for the visitors visa extension and if approved then if it is a year you can apply for the common law status and when you send in the app for sponsorship you can send the app for the workerss permit, but i think your going to have one problem but it may not.You say when her second visa is ready to expire you will just then reach the 12 month mark.So from the time her visa expires to the time you apply she will be out of status.
So timing is going to be everything for you.Have your app ready to be sent in on the exact 12 month date, with the workers permit app so she will be under implied status until her new visa comes in.
Now the only problem you might have is it may look very suspicous that you applied right at the 12 month mark, unless you have a good amount of proof of your relationship for the whole 12 months your going to really need to prove this to no doubt.
Maybe someone else can add to this.

Daniel, you can apply for an extension to her visitor status, but if you're submitting an outland PR application, you must submit the extension application separately (to CPC-Vegreville) from the PR ap. Include proof of the PR application (like a copy of your fees paid receipt) with the extension ap so that they know that she's a qualified PR applicant and she should be extended. As long as the extension application is submitted so that it's received by CPC-V before her status expires, she'll be under "implied status" to remain in Canada . . . however, leaving Canada invalidates implied status. And having an extension application or a PR application in process will not guarantee that she'll be readmitted to Canada.

I agree with iarblue that timing is everything - and before you even start thinking about the second extension . . . the one after you're a few days qualified as common-law partners . . . you should be planning how to get the first extension when her holiday visa expires. Yes, she needs to apply as a visitor - but she cannot apply saying that she's wanting to stay so that she can be with you so that she can eventually qualify as a common-law partner and apply for PR. She needs another, valid, reason for wanting to remain - usually people say that now that they're not working, they want to be able to travel and see Canada before going home but she will need to be able to show sufficient financial support to do so and that support cannot come from you, since you are not yet her spouse or her c/l partner. If you were married, it would be a whole different story, but you are only just beginning your common-law qualification so she is not at all guaranteed the ability to remain in Canada when her holiday visa expires. Because she is not yet a qualified PR applicant, unless she has a valid reason for remaining that doesn't involve you, it's possible they will tell her that she has to leave Canada and then try to come back again and pass another entry interview at the port-of-entry.

Hi Guys!!!
I want to submit online application for the stay extension for my parents who are on their 2nd visit to Canada. I have even created an online account .
I have following queries.
1. How & when to attach the supporting documents with the online application? How will i get UCI no.? Do i have to submit their passport photos as well.
2.Do i have to submit separate online application forms for both the parents?

Replies to the above are highly appreciated.
Many thanks

Hi there, I submitted online the application of my Mom to extend her visa as her visitor visa that was given for 5 years elapsed. I submitted my application by October. I scanned all the documents required, including the picture and saved it all to my documents page. you have to upload that with your application. The frustrating part is that the CIC assures you less days to process it but apparently it takes 120 days for them to process it. Their approval And the worst, they only extended for one month lol. What a scam for $100 fee. And on top of that, CIC required her for a medical exam in Canada for the extended 1 month stay.

Thx Mihrlene for your quick revert.
kindly clarify
1. Can i download the form , fill it & finally attach it after signing into my online account before finally submitting it after completing all valid steps.
Is there any Ikon on the online application for uploading documents ? Guess i have to upload all attachments before validating the online application form.
