We must file my extension, I've been here 5 months. Tomorrow is our deadline and we will file tonight if not early tomorrow to make sure we have it sent electronically. I'm from the States, did marry my Canadian husband. Will be filing my sponsorship and pr paperwork as soon as we have his tax paperwork back. He is going to write out a guarantor's letter so that I can remain with him for the next 6 months. If we are unable to verify his income will my paperwork be refused. We don't have loads in a savings account and his bank account is sufficient to pay the bills but if we have a print out at this moment it's not going to show a lot. Can we still file and send tax paper later or should we consider his Mom writing a secondary guarantor letter. He's afforded me for every visit and not sure how to show that.. Advise please.

is he currently employed? i'd imagine showing recent paystubs and bank statements are enough. i'm unaware of a specific amount needed to "Guarantee" someone's visit. they basically want to see the person you are relying on isn't on welfare... though i'll defer to others with experience with extensions.

i'd recommend adding a month's worth of paystubs, bank account info, and the employment letter you have for your pr application. i would think that should be sufficient enough and ease any concerns.

We haven't filed my PR yet.. trying to get his taxes done next week. He's contract labor, so possibly we could contact those who send him out to verify employment and also provide bank info..

i assumed you had started compiling documents, and generally a letter of employment is used. i'm sure letters from his contractors will be just as good.

We are going to get income tax papers started next week-tax man said it's going to take at least 11 days and that's beyond my deadline for the extension-that's going to have to be our income verification for PR (and held me up from getting my paperwork in). Thank you, I think the letter(s) will be best for sure.

CIC recommends applying 30 days before expiry but it's not a requirement. You can apply up until your status expires.
