Guys, has anyone of you ordered the GCMS notes? I don't think the 3 months rule actually true all the time, as depends on each application, we will have different timeline. I think we can order the notes one or two weeks after the Background checks changed to In Progress. Plus, it's free so why not? I just ordered mine 30 mins ago.

No, of course its not a rule but per the comments from applicants who have applied earlier, it is advisable to apply after 3 months to see more meaningful updates. Ordering after around 2.5 months also might work.

I think when you want to see the updates and officers notes on your applications, then you have to choose the other option. If you just need to see your information (your communication with IRCC), then you choose Privacy act. It is clearly written on the website when you proceed to order notes.

Not necessarily. You can see the same notes from the officers in both the cases. Its just that many people do not know that there is a Privacy Act which allows individuals in Canada to apply notes for themselves at no cost.

why do they require your wife to submit an RCMP report ?

has she been living in Canada ?

But then again, IRCC can conduct their own background check.
Yes my wife is living with me for the last two years in Canada. I am not sure why they asked about it. I guess depends on the officer. I have ordered GCMS notes for the possible reason.

A quick question friends..

what shows the Background status at the time
we get our AOR.

It was NOt started in my case, but I found some get
not needed.

well what to assume once not started changed to Not Needed.
thanks

By the way, does it really takes 2-3 week to receive you GCMS notes after order? And, based on global experience :D, do the notes include these 2-3 weeks of waiting? I mean, is there the latest info or just up to the moment you ordered notes?

It usually takes >30 days to get ur GCMS notes, and these notes are generated 1~3 days after ur order.

You CAN order it under the PRIVACY ACT for no cost!!

If you are ordering for yourself AND you are in Canada, then you order it under the Privacy Act and it is free of cost.

If someone else (friend/relative) is ordering it for you from Canada, then they have to order under the Access to Information act and it costs CAD 5.

If you go through an agency, it costs anywhere between CAD 25 to CAD 40.

https://atip-aiprp.apps.gc.ca/atip/actRecordSelection

since its of no cost ...i went ahead and ordered as well. hopefully i'll see why there has been no activities to my bg check after medicals have passed since Nov 24.
