Hi, I am from Vietnam. I submitted my application through IOM (International Organization for Migration in Hanoi, Vietnam) The IOM office then transferred my application to the Canadian Embassy. After submitting my application, I can track it on IOM's website.

I dont know how it works in Pakistan. I think you just have to be patient because for visitor visa, it takes about 1 month to process and sometime it can be shorter or longer.

Hope it helps.

You can get the visa very easy ,all you need is your confidence dont need to make stories be clear and straght most of the Canadian immigration people are polite if you are working some where you need to show them that you are working and You have to come back to continue your job .

Thanks Harry2500 for your message. I am prepared for the interview. I will definitely go there and tell them the truth. We'll see what their decision will be.

If you have a job you need a letter from your employer that you are going back to your country once the duration of your visit ended.

What should I do?

Okay, I went to the interview and I thought the interview was okay. I answered all the questions and I thought I was convincing. At the end of the interview, the Visa officer said he appreciates that I was very upfront that I have provided all the information. So he appreciates that.

Before I left, I told him that I wanted to have last few words, that it is very important for me to be with my husband right now (I explained to him our situation), that we have been apart for 6 months. That's why I want to apply for a visitor visa but not my permanent resident yet because it is faster. I will come back and will apply for my PR later. I also told him that I dont want to cause myself trouble when I apply for my PR, that I want to have a normal life in Canada so I dont think about going there and stay illegally. I dont want to have a family there and one day I will be sent back to my country and being away from my family. That's why I will definitely respect the law and I will come back after my authorized stay.

He said that what I said does make sense, but he needed to review my application once more.

I left. 1 day later I got my documents and my passport back. The passport has a rejection stamp. BUT, the stamp was dated March 9. My interview was on March 31.

I feel really upset because the interview was for nothing. They already made their decision long time before that. Then why did they make me go so far for a nonsense interview. I thought I was convincing but it doesn't matter what I said there. It was completely for nothing. I had to take a day off work and bought plane tickets to fly there, for nothing.

A friend of mine says I should sue CIC.

What do you think?

I think you will gain absolutely nothing by suing CIC except lost money, lost time and more aggravation. Instead, take a long walk, meditate or whatever you need to do to clear your head. Then move forward.

Many people have the same experience trying to get a TRV. You need your husband to sponsor you for PR, that is the sure way to get in. You can try to apply for a visit visa again but likely they will just deny you again.

What I am upset about is they asked me to go a long way for an interview for a decision which was already made.

You don't see anything wrong with that?

The decision should be made base on the interview, otherwise, there should be no interview. I will apply for my PR, but should I just let this go?

Leon is absolutely right. Your husband has to sponsor you first, which he should've done since you got married and than you can apply to visit him.
Best of luck!!!

I am wondering now, did it say March 9th 2009 or did it say March '09 meaning March 2009? It is also possible that they used the wrong date stamp. If you are absolutely sure that the stamp says March 9th 2009, then you can ask them why they called you for an interview if they already made the decision. If they did, it would not be very nice of them but there is not a thing you can do about it. Remember this is the same embassy that will process your PR.

It was dated 09 Mar 2009

You do believe that we cannot do anything about it? It means we have to accept whatever their decision is and they are law makers? There's no one above them?

I am not interested in sueing. I also know that it's time consuming, costs money. In the end I just want to get my visa. But I want to know what people think about this.

Can you just say that they are not nice? They are supposed to do their job base on the rules, not feelings.

Well, look at it this way. There is a perfect world and there is the real world.

In a perfect world, they would never call you for an interview if they'd already made the decision and they would have read your mind of good intentions and approved your visa.

Sadly, we don't live in a perfect world. In the real world, the embassy is only as good as the staff in the embassy. Some of them make mistakes, some of them are absent minded. Maybe some of them don't really care.

It is possible that you weren't actually denied until after the interview but somebody used the wrong date stamp. It is possible that a clerical error caused you to be asked for an interiview although you had already been denied. It is possible that they already denied you and called you for an interview just because they wanted to waste your time as well as their own. You seem to want to believe that. Personally, I think that is rather unlikely.

In a perfect world, you would sue them and they would apologize and give you a sum of money in compensation and approve your visa but in the real world, they probably don't even know what happened or why. You can complain to the embassy, you can even write to the minister and complain to him but that will not necessarily help in finding out what happened. If you are right in thinking that the staff are horribly mean people and did this to you on purpose, how do you know they will not blacklist your name and lose your PR file when you apply?

Do what you want. Personally, I think you should let it go and move on.
