What are people's experiences of going to Canada on a visitor visa whilst waiting for their IEC to be approved?

Specific questions;

1. How long do visitor visas usually take to be approved for Aussies?
2. On your visitor visa application where it asks ' Have you ever applied for or obtained a visa, an ETA or a permit to visit, live, work or study in Canada?', do you select 'yes' if my IEC application is currenlty awaiting approval?
3. How did you get around not having a return flight when you arrive at the border? Did you talk about waiting for IEC approval, show proof of funds?
4. Which airlines from Aus allow only one way tickets to Canada only on visitor visa?

1. You can check processing online - IRCC check processing
2. YES
3. You need a booked return flight for IEC approval as well as health insurance. You may be denied entry into Canada or not able to board your flight without a return ticket.
