By eligibility interview, do you mean the hearing for final decision, or just an interview for which you are eligible to make a refugee claim?

I am wondering if the Eligibility interview takes that long (few months to a year), Can people get a SIN before the eligibility interview? could they apply for a driver license? bank accounts? can someone please advise

No you cannot get a SIN card and you can open a bank account without SIN number, but will need refugee claimant document or work permit document. You cannot get license right now. You will need address proof and photo identification

So if let's say I have to wait 1 year for my eligibility interview, in that scenario and during that 1 year of waiting:

1- I can NOT drive in Canada even if I have a driver license from my home country ...... beyond the first 3 months I am allowed to use my international driver license?
2- I can NOT work in Canada?
3- I can NOT get interim federal health coverage for refugees?
4- I can NOT take English course?
5- I can NOT Apply for any provincial aid to feed my kids?

Does that mean I have to mostly stay home without being able to do anything till I get my eligibility interview? I am feeling lost honestly

If you have international license then you can drive. You need to register and have insurance of car

No you cannot work not until you get work permit

You can get ifhp, when you claim refugee they usually give you paper that states you are covered by ifhp

No you cannot take any course right now

As a refugee claimant you can apply for aid

Are you referring you Canada child’s benefit or provincial family allowance? You cannot apply for neither of the two until you are accepted as a protected person. However, you can apply for the provincial welfare package.

You can not apply for children benefits you need to be a protected person or PR.

Right now you can only get social assistance which is welfare

You can drive with a international license for 3 months but after you will need an international driving permit. The car has to be registered and insured as well.

How come you didn’t get refugee claimant letter yet. How did you apply? and when

nadie puede ayudarte en este foro. Todos somos gente común aquí. No hay ningún funcionario del gobierno en este foro. Puedes venir a Canadá si tu pariente vive aquí, ellos pueden patrocinarte a través del programa g5. También puede buscar entrada rápida o trabajador calificado, etc.

Si puede venir a Canadá con una visa de visita, también puede solicitar asilo aquí.

También puede huir a otro país y registrarse con ACNUR y, dependiendo de cuándo llegue su turno, lo enviarán a un país seguro para vivir allí de forma permanente.

Hello, to all refugee claimants. This is my timeline. Praying for all of us.
We submit our application on December 28, 2021.
January 4th 2022. AOC and Medical Instructions
January 20th 2022. Medical appointment
June 7th 2022. Notice to return for the interview. This was only for Biometrics and passport seizure.
Still waiting the interview

July 4, 2022: Biometrics and passport seizure.
Vancouver office.

2/05/2022 fingerprits and photos at the Pearso airport, passports seized for every member of the family
4/05/2022 interview at the airport, AOC
06/05/2022 did medical check
20/05/2022 submitted application via email to CBSA
04/06/2022 submitted BOC via email to CBSA
Still waiting for my claimant ID and work permit.
I applied also for an open work permit seperately online, it was accepted, but still processing.
CBSA says they have a large number of refugee applicants so just have to wait....Still cant understand why does it take so long to print cliamant id...
