Hi, Everyone. Thank you for reading this!

So, I'll start by giving you a brief summary of professional and educational background.

I started working as a nursery teacher (infants) back in 2004. From 2004 until 2009 I worked EXCLUSIVELY with children 0-4yo.

In 2009 I finished my Bachelor in Education (as an Early Childhood and Elementary Teacher).

Since 2010 I started teaching Elementary. Currently, I teach children from 5 to 11yo.

I've been trained in First Aid and CPR (but that was in 1999 and 2000). I've got proof of employment for all of those year (well, maybe not the first two, but, anyways)...

Do you think I stand a chance? :'(

(I truly appreaciate your input!)

There are 3 basis in applying for LICP. 1. 6 months CG training 2. Education ( BSN, RN) 3. 1 year fully paid employment.

Yes you can, my aunt applied as Live-in-Caregiver.She was an Elementary Teacher in the Philippines. You can definitely work as a nanny but not for elderly care since you dont have any experience in those areas..but then again you are Definitely qualified to look after kids...Goodluck on your application!

It is really depends on the visa officer. Now a days they are very strict in the qualifications. If I were you, just follow the qualifications stated on the CIC website. Just a reminder to avoid delay processing or being refuse. God bless and Good luck.

I've actually heard that a teaching degree is NOT considered acceptable by CIC for the LCP program. I have no idea why. I've heard nurses are accepted for sure. But not teachers. It seems weird. So I think you would need to satisfy the experience requirement, as opposed to the education requirement.

As to your experience, I don't know whether it would be acceptable or not.

Sorry I can't be more helpful...

Hi TrynaBL,

I came here (Canada) as a Live-in caregiver with teaching experience. I have done bachelor of Education and had enough experience in teaching.
I did not obtain any special course or program for live in caregiver. So, I think you would be eligible to apply for LCP. CIC would look into your educational qualification and work experience with the children.Try to collect as many evidence as you can like paper work, photos taking care of children, any trip photos where kids were under your supervision, experience letter from the institute stating your duties and term etc.

Thank you, everyone! I know there are different opinions and experiences out there, but I want to be aware of the full spectrum, so nothing surprises me too much... ;)

Do you think it would be okay for me to take pictures, proof of employment and all that, even from before the last 3 years? Because I've much more experience with the little ones than the older ones, just not recently as much.

Exactly, it says there under Training Required: Training must be in a field or occupation related to the employment sought. For example,
prospective live-in caregivers may have training in early childhood education, geriatric care, paediatric or geriatric nursing.

The woman looking to hire me is calling Service Canada this week to inquire about it.

The most annoying of it all is: I would easily attend all requirements, if I had applied two years ago... Except for two years ago I had an amazing job here, great professional perspective and I had no interest in going anywhere. Now my "living abroad" antsies have returned and I wanna act before it's too late. ::)
