Effective date of Bill C24

I am guessing that C24 rule of residence condition of 4 out of 6 years might come post Federal elections next year. The current govt will try to make as many New and Happy Citizen before the election. There will high probability that these new Citizen will vote in favor of current Govt as they helped to expedite the Citizenship application as can be observed currently (2013 / 2014 application becoming Citizen in under 1 year)

so guys, the new rule which will be effective by mid 2015 will affect all applicant after this day of what?
- are already in Canada with PR not completing period?
- people who are applying for immigration and received there PR visa before mid 2015?

The new rule will apply to every PR regardless of when they landed. So unless you want the old rule 3 / 4 year to apply to you, you must apply before the new rule kick in.

By the way I recall an information which was shared from a friend who have had a conversation with his local MP, about when it is expected the new residency requirement to be effective... The MP shared that before the new residency requirement starts, there must be a training of the staff in CIC which has to be at least one year and that training will not finish at the end of June.

So this might be another opinion that the new rule for residency will be effective sometime in the second half of 2015.

It seems that this rule will not be enforced before Canada Day.

This is the main problem with all the speculations around this law.

There is no guide,
no technical details,
no information about the new forms or documents
some of the clauses create confusion when the official government bodies read them,
No cut off date

The months are passing by and still nobody can give official information.

No offence meant; but why are you so worried?
It will be communicated when its known. Need to have a bit more patience I believe. One step at a time.

There are a few challenges being tackled at the moment. My understanding is its not held purposefully at least.

My personal issue is why whey still refuse to say the real cut of date for the new residency requirement officially, without any room for speculation, because I have big travel plans for next summer and I can make my program easily if I know the real date.

If I buy the tickets as early as possible I will save more money... basically if they say finally what the date will be I will safe money.

The thing I don't understand is that, they were so determinant to cut off the fraud with the applicants who were using the gaps in the current law, they even made the impossible to make the bill a law in such small time frame and they did already the hardest structural administrative change, but everything else is still the same concerning the requirements which the candidates have to fulfill...

If they were so determinant to cut off the fraud and the most difficult aspects are already done about the administrative changes, then why the rest of the law is still waiting on hold.

If they implement all the bill then the fraud levels will drop dramatically.

Well, the answer for delay is its not known yet; and will be told ready for announcement.
Now, I can't see a scenario, where date will be announced in a hurry because it affects your travel plans; or for that matter any body else's travel plans. I am afraid, That is not in the dependency list that is holding up the announcement, as far as I can tell.

I would agree; however it may be oct (election date) minus citz appln processing time. Any body applying after that are of no use to election, since they will be citizens after election. So, it can be few months before oct, if one follows your logic.

Last week the Minister have said that it will be implemented next summer... what kind of answer is that... summer is 90 days long.

Before the answer was Springtime or summertime...

Probably after couple of months the answer will be "It will be enforced next autumn."

Forget about my travel plans... they are my problem...

All I want to say is that everybody who will be eligible to apply for citizenship July, August 2015 has a very good chance to apply according to the old law.

In my opinion 2016 will be better for full implementation of Bill C24.

I also hope the new rule will come after August 2015, who knows if they consider Canada day then we'll be thrown away in waiting queue.

How can PR waiting for Citizenship vote for New Govt. LOL ?

The people voting for elections , will be citizens who know everything abt the govt and not just based on this Law.

You Can if u stay in Canada for whole period of time and Bill C-24 rule 4/6 not come in effect, Suggest apply on 22 July, 2015.
