Dear learned members,

Would like to understand, if I can do something different from my present situation. My spouse (wife) is the main applicant and 421 is the CRS.

We have achieved this CRS on the basis -

1. Main applicant age 35+
2. IELTS score of band 8 - CLB 9 in two and CLB 10 in two for the main applicant,
3. Two or more degrees & diplomas for main applicant
4. More than three years of foreign work experience
5. No relatives in Canada, no experience in canada, no education in canada

1. I am the dependent with age 40+
2. Masters education (10 points added in the score)
3. IELTS scheduled for the June 2016. (max points that can be added is 20)
4. No relatives in Canada, no experience in canada, no education in canada

We were hoping for OINP and got all the documents ready for the same. However, the same is paused for the moment and not sure about how the things will open up in future. Though, we also see a hope as per the minister's statement that October 2016 onwards, we can see large number for invitation, would like to check on the following -

1. Are there any points related to kids? We have two kids.
2. We also have extra funds (other than minimum required) that we can bring to Canada, if allowed? Are there any extra points for the same?

At this moment, I dont see anything working for us related to immigration. Any guidance please.

We are loosing the points just because of the age. It is very hard for the middle aged professionals to cross 450.

Thank you,
Pawshi

Unfortunately you have no means of increasing your score significantly besides IELTS that you mentioned.

The main factor causing a drop in score is the age (which you probably know). Kids and extra funds do not add any points to the score.

However, as mentioned SINP is a good option to look at if the occupation falls under the NOC code (check on their website). PEI is also open currently.

any hopes with 450 score ?

450 may happen only later in the year as it did last year in November I think.

However no guarantees and if taking IELTS again add points to you then you may look at that option.

I think if I wait till November I will have my 3 years exp and my points will be 475.. I want to settle in Toronto but oinp also has a temporary freeze.. So I think I will have to wait till November only..

Can I suggest you start with the PEI process so that in case any rules change, you atleast have this option.

Once you land you can try your luck at PEI and if you don't have success you can move to other provinces (Charter of Rights)

Need some clarification. If an applicant gets the PNP from a province and after PR, the applicant stays in other province - is that allowed? Since PEI does not have much of the jobs like Chartered Accountancy and Information Security. Can the applicant move to other province for the jobs? how long they have to stay in the province, which nominated them? Is there a lock-in? Due to economic condition, consider after a month, if the applicant does not gets the job, can they move to different province?

Thank you,
Pawshi

Guys, pls enlighten me although Ontario is the most sought after province in Canada, why would anyone apply for PE and SINP type of province? What I understand is only BC is the second most sought after province after Canada rest all are not good for living.

Please help me clear these doubts. I'm a newbie

I completely agree with this. Wherever province will do, you can move later when you don't succeed there.

Yes. You can move to another province once you are approved as permanent resident. Even you are nominated in one province, you are a Canadian Resident and not a Resident of a certain province alone. Yes you have moral obligation to serve the province who nominated you, but this is not the law. Law of Canada lets every citizen AND permanent residents choose where they want to live.

So even a certain province nominates you, you are not breaking any law to live and move somewhere else.

Finding the right place to live is not based to where OTHERS want to live. It is completely your decision. This is your life and choosing the right province will base on what kind of lifestyle you are living and what job do you want to have. So you must decide based on these factors and not because other people likes to. Their likes might not be applicable to yours so make your own research about what province suits you best. Good Luck!

Ohh.. Do you know how much time will it take for the PNP to arrive for pei? I am an investment banker and I couldn't find jobs in pei. There is other thing, according to the system, I will get 475 in august but actually I complete my 3 years only in November. Also according to the system, I have my one year con exp but I will have one year only in July last week. Lots of concerns in my application lool

have you checked Quebec website...?
they are going to start accepting applications recently.. through their online "Mon Project".. which is very similar to Express Entry profile.

We are in the same position my friend! :)
Both with masters, CLB 10s and max experience... our score is 459... not too promising at the moment ! :)

Hi,

Congrats on getting interest letter from PEI. I am still waiting on ECA to apply for EE and then only can send EOI to PEI. Which profession are you in? I am in 2171 do you think I have a chance of getting interest letter from PEI?

Thanks.

Getting 438 score, thought of applying for OINP but then bad news came that OINP has stopped giving nomination. Disheartened :'( by this news don't know what to do was counting on this nomination to get invite.

Hi bindaasbanda,

Does OINP nomination require a valid job offer from Canadian employer? Or we can apply for this nomination without a job offer too?

^ you can even without job offer. Minimum requirement is at least 400 CRS points. However, OINP is closed now until November 2016.

I don't mean to offend anyone, but you can't be too picky on the province when the crs score is not that high.

If you score 500 or higher by all means go to Ontario. But realistically speaking, why not go for the other provinces first? At the end of the day, it still accomplishes the goal of getting to Canada.

Express Entry is hardly 2 years old but you can see just how much more competitive the immigration market has become in a short span of time. I'd rather exhaust all options now than wait for something uncertain in the future hehe :)
