Hi All,

I live right now in Quebec and will move to Alberta next month,

I am electrical engineer and member in Order of engineers of Alberta APEGA as E.I.T,

would you please advise me if Edmonton better than Calgary with regard to find job. and how difficult is finding job in my profession.

I would appreciate your help.

Thanks

There are more Engineering jobs / blue collar jobs in Edmonton than Calgary while Calgary has more white collar jobs than Edmonton so it's your choice...

Hello All,
I am new to this forum, I have gone thru most of the recent posts and its very informative. Thanks!!
I am planning on moving to Canada early April, I wanted some advice on the job opportunities. Appreciate any inputs.. I am into IT, so I know that Toronto would be a better place with better opportunities. but since I got the PR thru ANIP (Alberta) Is it ok to settle down in Toronto?

I have been applying to many positions in Canada with very lil luck. :( and realized that it would be more effective if you are physically present in Canada..

Looking forward to any thoughts, ideas, suggestion.. anything :) Thanks!

You'll have to land in Alberta first....statistically, there are more IT jobs in Toronto but who says there are no IT jobs in Edmonton ?? Yon never can tell, you might be lucky so I advise you land first then you can pick it up from there...there are jobs but you must land first to be able to secure one!

Thanks for the reply..
Yes, I've already completed my landing formalities last year and have my PR card too.. now its the matter of moving to Canada and settling down with a job.

Thanks Sonea,

My spouse has signed agreement for this basement.
She will be shifting in coming week.
Good thing is location. Its located in Millwoods.
School, bus station, Market, mosque, millwoods recreation centre are within 1 km range.
I will relocate once i will find a Job there.
I live in millwoods too near grey nuns hospital

you can get recreation centre membership cards for free (valid for one year) since you are a newcomer..

for job hunt its a great location south common park is not far away from your location you can go in person to stores along with your CV so at least you can start earning .. meanwhile search online for your professional job.. best of luck

Thanks Sonea for your support.

My daughter has got admission in school and started to attend whereas my son has registered for KG but will start in Sep session due to age.
My spouse and kids are living near mary hanley school millwoods.
Its wonderful sharing about recreation centre i will definitely inform my family to get membership.
I will be landing in Mid april so your suggestions will help me to find job.

Just one question.

My family has landed early this year and they lived in North with my relatives and recently shifted in millwoods so if they apply for membership will one year free tenure will count from the day of landing or from the day you apply?

Regards

it counts from the day they give u a letter to get the cards from recreation centre

Your wife can apply for you son's daycare subsidy if she wants to work and have no one to take care of your kids while she is on job or looking for a job even if she wants to study ..

Don't forget to file your tax return even if u didn't earn anything .. if u started receiving child tax benefit already, remember that uctb (universal Child tax benefit) is taxable for ur wife .. if u don't wanna pay accountant's fee, book your appointment in any church which is offering tax filing service, call 311 to get information about your area, its free of charge but soon there will be loads of appointments so book early..

She certainly wanted to work there because she is biologist and working lady in our home country.
But we are uncertain to start due to no one to take care of my son.
Although she had admitted him into school which will start in this September.
School hours for KG are only 3 hours from 830-1130.

Thanks for your guidence she will apply for subsidy in case of doing Job or to further study.

She had not applied for UCTB yet.
She will call 311 to know information about our area and will file Tax return ASAP.

Let me appreciate your kindness for such useful information.

apply for CCTB and UCTB ASAP though you'll get that in arrears i.e from the day you land
