Hey Edmonta,
My initial landing was in toronto. Havent been to Edmonton yet. Actually am based in abu dhabi n will acquire the letter from abu dhabi traffic police located in murpor road. Well honestly i am not thinking of shifting any stuff from here coz it will turn out to be a liability. We want to be as flexible as possible atlest till we find a job.
Unless u know ur settlement plans , i recomend u rethink about moving ur stuff.

How important it is to assess your degrees from IQAS . I am planning to move to Edmonton in May and would like to know that I have made the my degrees attested from HEC. Would i still be needing IQAS as i would liek to know the general employer requirements in alberta.

In my openion, since Alberta has an organization (IQAS) carrying out the assessment of foreign credentials , there should nothing to stop us from getting it done before hand. One never knows if you need it. Not that it cant be done once you are there but doing it before you arive will obviously save time.

Wel Come to Edmonton. Go to Bredin Institute or Mannonite Centre for new commers they will guide you how to start finding job. Best of Luck.

It is better to do it before arrival, after arrival and few people like me never does it.

No, the private sector doesn't ask for IQAS.
You need it if you apply for a job with the government, city of Edmonton or maybe some very specific jobs; and if you want to enrol to a university program.

I sent for IQAS few months after I landed. Don't know if I'm gonna need it, but you never know...

Is WES accepted in every province in Canada be it for a University program or a job ???

hmmm...good question, for which I don't have a verified answer.
All relevant ads I saw here in Alberta request IQAS; no mention of WES.
Also UofA and NAIT request IQAS.
According to this link http://www.jobbank.gc.ca/content_pieces-eng.do?cid=223 each province has it's own regulatory body for equivalences.

And according to WES website, the credential assessment report they provide for when you apply as a FSW (that goes for the new applicants, we didn't have to do that before landing) is no good for jobs or unis, only for the application.

Your FSWP credential assessment is for immigration purposes. For education, licensing or employment candidates should always check with the organization to find out what type of credential evaluation is required. You may need to upgrade your report at a later time."

I am planning on moving to Canada early April, I wanted some advice on the job opportunities. Appreciate any inputs.. I am into IT, so I know that Toronto would be a better place with better opportunities. but since I got the PR thru ANIP (Alberta) Is it ok to settle down in Toronto?

I have been applying to many positions in Canada with very lil luck. and realized that it would be more effective if you are physically present in Canada..

Looking forward to any thoughts, ideas, suggestion.. anything Thanks!

Thanx for shedding enough light on this...it's better I go for IQAS then..
