i suggest you visit government funded employment agencies to seek their assistance, google the web for career fairs in your area (usually some companies are there looking to fill positions such as call center agents, door to door sales, customer service..etc)

you could try stores around your neighborhood...just walk in whenever you see an ad ...etc.

however, its good to have a plan for getting back to your field, so while you secure your survival job - look for bridge courses which could help you in integrating back to the professional workforce.

these are general tips - i'm staying in ontario so can't really speak to "edmonton specifics"...but i'm sure other members would have more to add.

Good luck in getting your life started in this beautiful yet challenging country!

Probably the immigrant serving agencies in Edmonton will help you get a survival job. Also you can search for survival jobs in websites such as indeed.ca, eluta.ca

Hello Members,

I plan to arrive on May 12th 2015 in Edmonton and stay there for 2-3 weeks before I move to Calgary. I need some help clarifying a few doubts hoping if anyone of you could help answer. Since I'd be travelling before my Spouse and Child, do they have to show POF too at the time of Landing or will my POF will be sufficient? if they do have to show a POF, how much should I show and how much should they have (my wife and child) at the time they arrive?

Long question short, can dependants land and do their immigration formalities showing a copy of POF submitted by the PA at the time of arrival?

Thanks in advance...

Its really nice idea from Amir Bhai to network with each other and will help each others.

Share your views on it guys.

Regards
Mayank

No need for dependant to show POF since you as a principal applicant would be landing before them.
