Hi,

Our application has gone super smooth so far with myself being Sponsor and my wife the PA. Application is linked, AOR1 received, Schedule A uploaded with Police Certificates and Medicals requested. Hoping to upload Police Certificates in 2 weeks MAX and get Medical sent around the same time. Below is what I need help with wrapping my brain around:

We (myself, my wife and 2 children) have flights to Canada on April 3 and my wife was going to land as "dual intent". We have no intention to return to Sweden as I have a job waiting for me and my wife will be a stay at home mother (this was explained very clear in our application). Also, we did book return flights, but not to be used unless told so by CIC (something goes goofy with application) which in my mind is highly unlikely. From what I read it's recommended to land as "dual intent" only once Sponsor has been approved. Now, what shall we say if I'm NOT SA by our April 3 departure?

I mean, it's still 3 weeks away, but just would like some clarification on this scenario to ease my mind a bit and hopefully stop stressing why I'm not SA yet even though our application goes no along really smooth for the time being.

Thanks,

Hi i have a question, when they asked you for a police cert where there any specific office that you need to send it? Or just an email? Because im in a country where they dont give the police cert on hand thus they send it it to a specific office of choice. Thanks

For Swedish Police Certificate we got the application on there website, printed, filled it out , scanned and emailed.
For Dutch Police Certificate it was the same process.

We should receive both Police Certificates by mail and then will scan both and upload to my wife's CIC account.

She is coming to visit with her family while her PR app processes. Simple as that. Whether you have SA or not really doesn't matter.

The idea of being 'sponsor approved' is just a really useful benchmark to illustrate that your application is well and truly lodged (i.e. it's not like you mailed the pack a couple of days before the flight and it may yet be rejected). So the fact that you have AOR and are have received requests for additional information would deffo indicate that they are processing it and it will not be rejected at this stage, so you can say your application is well and truly lodged and it is a matter of time.

You may find that return flight tickets are cheaper than one-way tickets for all but a very few airlines. But then I think they expect a return ticket if landing under dual intent (but not certain on this point).

Do have printout of your tracking information and requests for additional information to prove your application has been submitted and is in process. Also remember to have an ETA for any visa exempt travellers (i.e. your wife etc.). Other than that, I amk sure you will be fine.

Ok cool and thanks for the responses. Will make sure we have printed out evidence in the form of paperwork our progress in the application process.

So when we go up to customs booth in TO we should tell the officer that we have a PR application is in process and our plan?

Remembering that I'm only inquiring to get some advice in the possibility I do not have a Sponsor Approval email to show CIC officer.

Further extract from another thread on BE:

Sorry for the delay in reporting back, everything went fine entering under dual intent. I had my small collection of documents ready in a wallet but it was not needed in the end. The conversation went:

Border Guy: Hi, how can I help you two?

Me: Hi, Anna is Canadian and I'm British. We have a PR application for me currently in progress. I have some extra documents if you'd like to see them?

Border Guy: When did you apply?

Me: Early January.

Border Guy: Welcome to Canada! Please don't over stay or work until your application is completed. *stamp*

Me: Wahoo!

I'd still recommend anyone entering under dual intent to do the preparation as the wiki says. Just having the stuff makes you feel better about entering.

You will be dealing with CBSA, not CIC.

SA is not a pass of some sorts; having SA isn't going to make the CBSA officer treat her any differently than not having it. CBSA will ask what her purpose of visit is and she can say "visiting my spouse while my PR app processes". They may or may not ask for more documentation. In our case, the officer confirmed we had a PR app in the system, asked how much money we had (didn't ask for proof), told my partner not to work as a visitor and sent us on our way.

Sorry was away at work all day since lunch.
Very much appreciate the help and comments to this scenario. I will be sure to have all documents in order in the case I do not have a SA email to show. As my topic wrote, you have eased my mind!

I just find it strange I have yet to receive SA since my wife has been requested Schedule A, Police Certificates and Medical. Have there been scenarios when Sponsor does not receive SA email? Or will I get this eventually?

Yes, sometimes SA gets lost or isn't sent out. You can contact the Call Centre, they may be able to check. And you can request your GCMS notes, though it takes around 30 days to get them.

Faster way - check ECAS under your name (not your wife's). SA status will be listed there, either in process or decision made.
