Thanks Coolguy

I will call them about 9-10 days after my landing to ensure everything is alright.

Although I'll be in Long Island - Newyork that time but I heard I can travel back to Canada based on my landing paper in Private transport and I won't need a visa if I do so. Just wanted to confirm if that's true.

Also, i think getting a separate photograph with stamp from photographer and date would be a good idea. In case they ask for it later.

Regards
RAJ

That is true, if you are going to cross the US border by private car, you don't need a PR card. You can just show them your COPR (the document you got with your visa) to enter Canada.

The number coolguy2010 gave you can only be called from Canada (can't call it from USA).

Regards,

Hi,

About proof of funds. since i am not going to Canada permanently, would it be okay to show authenticated bank statement and a hand written cheque as a proof of funds. I obviously have no intentions of opening any canadian bank account or even transferring funds to Canada atleast now. Or do i need to have some sort of Manager's cheque or bank draft of some kind to show that i have funds when i land??

No sorry the visa cannot be extended once stamped. She will have to apply for immigration again.

2 things you can still check:

1. the most obvious one ;) does her F-1 visa have an M or an S written under entries?

2. Even if it is single entry visa, it may not be voided if she DRIVES to a Canadian border completes her landing and returns to the US. (This is from the university of Columbia University and says you can go to and come back from Canada even if you have an expired F-1 visa: http://www.columbia.edu/cu/isso/visa/F-1/F-1_travel.html#newF1Visa ).

Will see if I can find something for you from the state department.

Have checked Immigration and Customs Enforcement website (http://www.ice.gov/sevis/travel/faq_f2.htm)

Your sisters single-entry visa will not be effected if she stays in Canada for less then 30 days. Just needs to ensure her I-20 is valid.

You can email the state department just double check.
