Really appreciate this forum. I'm sponsoring my husband inland (app submitted Nov 10, 2015) and he received this email this morning:

This refers to the Application for Permanent Residence you made under the Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada Class.
It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class. Please note that a final decision will not be made until all remaining requirements for becoming a permanent resident have been met. These requirements include medical, security and background checks for you and, if applicable, all of your family members, both in Canada and abroad, even if they are not applying to join you in Canada at this time. You cannot become a permanent resident until you and all your family members have met these requirements.

We did his medical and submitted proof three weeks ago and they already have his police certificate, just wondering what other checks would need to be made. Is this some kind of approval? I'm excited but my husband doesn't want to be too hopeful haha.

Also how do we pay the RRPF?

The letter also stated:

The Right of Permanent Residence Fee is applicable to your application. If you chose to defer payment of that fee, you will be contacted to make the payment at a later date. You will not be granted permanent residence status until this payment is submitted. If you have not already done so, it is strongly recommended that you pay this fee as soon as possible. By doing so, it will reduce the processing time of your application. For information on how to pay this fee, please visit ww.cic.gc.ca/english/information/fees/index.asp.

I'm confused because it says if we haven't paid, that we will be contacted to make the payment at a later date, but then goes on to say please pay the fee ASAP?? Should we pay online and email or mail in the receipt or should we wait for them to request it?

Thanks in advance :)

It is almost :) an approval. CIC waits for results of security check maid by CSIS.

Concerning payment I am not sure. If you pay it now - how would you inform CIC?
I suppose when you get a definite :) approval and they will ask for your husband's passport you will be able to pay and send them the receipt with the passport. Or pay now and send the receipt when they ask for passport?

This is what is known as AIP (approval in principal). It can take a few weeks up to a few months from this point to get final approval. I would make the RPRF fee payment online then I would email a copy to your VO as well as snail mail the original receipt to them. Make a photo copy of this to keep on hand just in case. You're almost there, but don't hold your breath quite yet, could still be a few months yet!

Best of luck!

Thank you! What email address would I send it to? Or if I send via CSE, what do I select for "Type of application/enquiry"?

It's completely unnecessary to mail the RPRF and is a waste of postage.

If you applied inland, select "in-Canada Permanent Residence). https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx

Have you already done the medical? Did they provide more specific instructions? Have you checked GCKey account?

It looks to me like this is just AOR2, i.e. that they have touched the file, and that this is a form letter update reminding of all the requirements. If they haven't actually provided the medical form and requested specific action, I believe no immediate steps required.

Not certain, you can contact to confirm if you wish.

they said

"Please note that as a courtesy, medical evaluation request sent in January 2020 has
been attached to this email for your reference."'

and they sent me the medical instruction again they gave me back in Jan, 2020.

We had sent medical paper up-front around Nov,2019, and CIC website kept saying "we sent you medical instruction, complete it asap"

We inquired about it July,2020 since we already had sent it, and they said it was received but if they need any extra info they will ask me again.

Seems like My up-front medical wasn't accepted?

You best contact them, it seems they probably didn't accept your up-front medical. As I understand, the advice is almost always to wait and do the medical only when requested.

Agree, from my experience here it’s always best to wait to do the medical when you’re asked. Attempting to do it beforehand is like you sending them step 6 when they might only be on step 3, so to speak. That’s how things get lost in translation or miscommunication happens. It won’t help speed up the process either.

When they ask you to do the medical it means they’ve reached that stage of the application and are ready for you to do so. Therefore they’ll be on the hunt for those results and looking for them to come in so they can continue processing.

Further to this: the medical request that is sent by IRCC for family sponsorship has a specific form, with instructions for what should be looked at by the medical centre. If you just go and do your own, it may simply not have contained what they were looking for.
