Hello

I submitted my application this last week... I am finding it difficult to handle waiting... Anyone has any advices for managing of our thoughts during the waiting?
Second question is that Does receiving the AOR mean one has already passed the eligibility criteria test and he only need to wait for criminal, background and medical clearance?

Thanks a lot guys

No it does not mean they have passed. There is still the check of work experience etc.

No, it absolutely does not. Receiving AOR just means that your application is complete, i.e. it had all the documents requested in the checklist, and they were filled out correctly. I know that waiting sucks, but we have to get used to it. My impression is that new applications are probably going to be processed faster, but even if that's true they're probably going to take a a while. Bear in mind that people who applied in September 2012 are just now receiving their request for medicals.

I am right as per OB 485 which says
CEC: the “Eligibility CEC” decision has been set to “Passed” or the Acknowledgement of Receipt letter/e-mail has been sent from CIO.

That OB refers to the bridging work permit, not to CEC applications... "Passed" or AOR are not the same thing...

You are right it refers to bowp but he referred to this to say that eligibility passed is equal to receipt of AOR.. I read it but I am still not sure if that's right..

Follow this link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5609ETOC.asp

Scroll down to the section that says "The Application Process", it will say what the AOR means.

Hello friends

Lol I just think applicants are getting confused what AOR is and technically what it really means.
Yes it does mean that you have passed the eligibility stage, but that doesn’t mean you should get excited about it. You are eligible because you have provided all the correct documents on the check list. They will investigate and see how FULL PROFF they are next; I think you’re thinking they may have done this already. Not the case, that’s why it takes so long to get a decision

Dear Maza, you have applied on 13th May and it has been just four days only. In general the trend nowadays is a 4-6 weeks time for AOR and a long wait before medicals.

I am an April 2012 applicant; it has been a long wait for me and it ain't over yet as I recenlty got PPR.
All I can advice you is to keep your calm, there would be days where you would be frustrated when you might find applicants who applied later than you getting requests earlier..but make sure you do not lose hope...my suggestion would be that for a couple of weeks...forget the fact that you have applied for PR and concentrate on something else..the more you check emails for AOR, the more restless you would find yourself..I am speaking from personal experience.

Hope this helps.

I second what destinychild said. It's a long process and you'll need to be very patient. Checking this forum too much will probably not help, to be honest.

Regarding the AOR issue, you'll find in the forum plenty of people who got rejected 7-8 months after receiving the AOR. Hopefully, this year CIC will do a better job informing people earlier about rejections.

Again, that's incorrect, suvan. The AOR just means that your application is complete. Eligibility is something else entirely. In theory, you can have only 6 months of work experience, send your documents in and, as long as your application is complete (all documents are signed etc.), you will probably receive the AOR. Your application will still get rejected though, because you're not eligible.

P.S. A second (perhaps better) example: you send your application in, it's complete and all, you even have 1 year of work experience, but your IELTS score is not enough to qualify for CEC, i.e. you're not eligible. You'll receive the AOR, and your application will later get rejected. Here's an example from the forum: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t146643.0.html

Thank you guys...

I think the more I read the more I become frustrated and worried... I applied last year and got rejected within two weeks for cic office in Sydney... So I waited a full year to apply now under cec... I was happy to be rejected quickly.. Before I start building dreams of becoming PR.... This time I used an old police clearance that will become invalid so they would contact me when I pass eligibility ... Or at least that's what I thought of then

Thank you all for the help

But isn't that what eligible means, If you look up the word eligible in the dictionary doesn't it mean exactly that! As I mentioned this can get pretty technical. He's eligible because he has

1: fulfiled at least 12 months of work experience
2: submitted reference (or reference letters)
3: submitted all applicable IMM forms
etc etc

If the visor officer said no to any of these then he WOULD NOT be eligible.

But again let's not get excited about what the word eligible means, eligible doesn't mean that his proofs are 100 authentic (not saying that's the case

Maybe you're getting confused with authentication and eligibility, eligibility really doesn't mean anything, even though there are people out there who risk it and don't even get that fare

ALSO ODINE you do NOT get AOR if (as in your example) have only 6 months work experience, you quite simply wouldnt get AOR.
