Documents to support genuine relationship - 2 Copies for Submission?

Hi All,

I have a few questions that I hope I can get answers here.

1. On the Sponsor Questionnaire form (Form 5540), it asks for additional details to prove the relationship is genuine. I'm planning to include photos/documents to support this. The same thing is being asked in Form 5490 for the sponsored spouse. Obviously the information would be the same for both forms so my question is should I include just one copy for the photos/documents and say they apply to both forms??

2. Do people know if the sponsor and sponsored spouse applications will be physically separated during the evaluation? If so, does it make sense to submit 2 copies of documents to prove the genuine relationship? (one for form 5540 and one for form 5490)

Thanks in advance.

Fill out both forms completely, don't make them have to go looking for stuff. Not physically separated no, but the sponsorship app will be looked at in Mississauga, and the applicant's application at the appropriate visa office abroad (inland application will be different).

Hi Truesmile,

Thanks for the reply. I was referring to the photos and copies of supporting documents. Should I make 2 copies of all the supporting photos/documents and attach them to the 2 forms?

Hi kansha

You do not need to include photograps in two different places. You can send them in Loose. When I sponsored my wife, i did the same. While sending photos, do not send bulk but send sleeted good ones that covers all the aspects. I think i sent around 25-30

Documents must be valid ones and genuine. There is no point in producing same document in two places.

No need for copies.

Separate your app into 3 sections. My partner's application package had 3 big envelopes: one with all my (sponsor) forms, on with all of his forms and then a third with all of our photos, lease, bank statements, travel tickets, utitlities etc.

They will look at everything when they process the sponsor, then after sponsor approval, they will send all the applicant forms and other stuff on to the other visa office.
