bank statement is valid proof (if you have it.online bank statement works fine too). if you have travel checks which were issued from outside of canada (travel check issued from within canada will make no sense)you can mention them in your explanation letter. also attach a letter from the person with whom you are staying that he/she will support you during your stay.
