Do you still need LMO for extending PGWP if you have provincial nominee

I second about getting closed work permit. However, one additional thing that I did was to get a support letter from Province of Ontario. I also sent this letter for work permit extension.

I also got nominated under Masters category for Ontario.
Previously I had 1 year PGWP as my degree was 1 year

Please also share ur timelines.
I thought Bufalo was fast but I applied on 24 Oct. No response as yet. I chekd and my bank draft encashed on 1st March.

my WP is gona expire in October. I have my PNP (Ontario) and i have filed my PR application on April 2011, though there is no status update on website, however, the draft has been cashed on May 30th, 2011.

Shall i go for my WP application using my
- PNP certificate copy
- Details of my PR application
- Attach my employment letter. Working as software developer at RIM since November 2010 .. ..

???

I am in the same situation as yours. My WP also expires in October and I have all the same documents as yours. Can you help me understand through the WP application process? Which visa offis, what about extending the visa etcc.. Any help will be highly appreciated.

I am in exactly the same boat as yours with the WP expiring in October. Currently working full time in a Cambridge based company.

Can you run me through your application process for the closed work permit? Which visa office, what about the visa itself expiring etc...

To the guys who are asking me how did i apply for my Closed work permit.

Here are the thing which i did
- I applied online
- I used my employment letter
- I used my PNP letter
- I used my Canada Post receipt of the shipment of my documents to Canadian consulate buffalo for immigration
- I used my bank draft copy which i sent when i was applying for Canadian immigration

The WP was issued without any problem. However, it was a CLOSED work permit.

My problem: I have this closed work-permit which will expire in Jan 2013 .. and i haven't received any update for my immigration. My timeline is

Got PNP Approval: Dec 24th 2011
Applied for immigratin: April 1st, 2011
Medical did: October 2011
ECAS Application status: Application Received April 7th 2011. Medical Received

Thanks so much for the info, really helps. I will try the same. Although I do not have the Canada Post receipt, I will provide the reply from cic about request for medical. That will provide them my PR File number. Hope that works.

I would say attach as much information as you can to support your case. You can go to your bank and ask them what is the status of the bank draft which you sent to Canada immigration office, if they say it has been cashed, ask them to put it on some official paper or give you some proof. Anything which can prove taht you have applied for immigration will help

I have received reply from cic and my File number as well - so that proves my application is under process. I have also submitted my medical reports. So I guess I will include that as well. Hoping for the best and I will keep you informed.

What was you processing time? 2-3 weeks, or more maybe.

One more thing you might know - If I get rejected in this category, can I still apply the LMO through my company?

I am not aware of LMO thing .. but i am 100% sure you wouldn't get rejected.

I vaguely remember the processing time .. it was less than what i was expecting .. probably 14-20 days (not business days .. ) .. but not sure

One last thing as I am in the process of applying.

What about the visa? My visa also expires around the same time. So did you apply to the visa office in Buffalo/Detroit? And for the visa, you would have to courier the passport as well. Please advice from your experience.

Hey there,

From what I hear from your post, I am guessing you would have an answer to my querry.

I have the Ontario PNP certificate as well as the support letter. I am supposed to send my application for work permit and temporary resident visa to the Case Processing Center at Alberta.

However I am not sure which application package am I supposed to fill between the two below:

Application to Work in Canada: Work Permits
OR
Application to Change Conditions or Extend Your Stay in Canada as a Worker

Please advice. Any help will be highly appreciated.

If your case is expiring then apply for Work Permit. If your work permit isn't expiring and your visa is expiring then go for change condition thingy. but i hardly doubt that you would need to apply through "change condition" thingy.

Yes, both my work permit & visa are expiring in October.

I have the PNP certificate as well as the support letter. CIC website clearly says that I need to put my application to CPC, Alberta. But its so frustrating that they dont mention if I need to apply for a new work permit (and visa) or for an entension of the current ones.

once you get a work permit, you apply for its extension at its expiry unless your previous work permit was a Closed one and you were allowed to work with a specific employer.
