Just wondering if you can take the online test in a different country? I am thinking about visiting my families but afraid an invitation to test will come while I am away.
Thanks !

You must be physically in Canada.

No need. Answer is no. Test has to be taken while physically in Canada.

Test/Interview/Oath - All to be done inside the country like it happened during pre-pandemic.

You can only take the test after you receive our invitation.
You must

  • complete the test within 21 days of the start date in your invitation
  • be in Canada to take the test

How about this scenario: take the test at a Canadian embassy or consulate abroad. Technically if you are inside a consulate you are on Canadian Soil. Has anyone explored this possibility?

Even before the pandemic, the general public has been largely restricted from entering the embassies/consulates, by appointment for very specific purposes only. I don't think they'd take on the logistics and security for them to allow people to come in to take a 30-minute test.

That's a common mistake.
The embassy of a country in another country is inviolable, but the land belongs to the host country.
If you go to the Canadian Embassy in Berlin, you're in Germany, not Canada.

I stand corrected. Thank you.
