If they request a new medical how long do the usually give you to send it in? 30 days? We still have not received our request to have it redone, the letter says if a redo is necessary they will be contacting us shortly. I dont know how short their shortly is but this letter was dated june14th and no request yet.

hi boyee,

i'm not sure this is what you want to hear, but my husbands medical expired on july 13... his interview was july 27, and at the interview the IO told him he was approved but would need to re-do the exams. i was crushed when i heard this was the case. had been hoping they would extend. it had only been expired for 2 weeks, and they couldn't make an exception! it seems they aren't very interested in bringing people together as quickly as possible. the only silver lining is that they had my husband leave his passport at the office, so we wont have to wait the extra time for mailing it there... (saving us what... 5 days maybe??)

we have been working with an immigration consultant who has been helping us through this process, and they sent a letter to our IO shortly after the interview requesting them to reconsider the need for a medical, however she said the chances of that happening are slim, and not to wait for a response. so we have gone ahead with starting the re-do of the exams.

im also curious to know what the time-line is for the exam paperwork, so anyone with past experience, please share!

good luck boyee - it sounds like you and your partner have been through a lot! stay strong.

Thanks, I am pretty much expecting to have to have the medical redone. Yes we have been through the mill and then some. But if you read much of this forum you know I am not alone in that boat and there are others that have gone through alot more than me. We are hanging in there and hoping that thanksgiving will be the time we can finally be together.

They didnt extend ours but it was 8 months expired. I have heard of some getting a visa for a month without new medicals but its all up to the visa officer. My husband had his medical redone today. I am wondering now how long before he gets a passport request. He has not been outside of India so I am hoping the security checks wont take long.

I only know about delhi. I know it doesnt go by regular mail so it will not take long to arrive at the visa office. My husband said the dr told him the results will be mailed to delhi on monday the 30th of Aug. and that it would take about 2 days to reach delhi. So it will be in delhi on the 1st or 2nd of Sept. All of our other documents that had to be redone were received by delhi on Aug 10th. I am wondering at what point they start the security checks?

Nooo its not the same as a police record ...Its when they do a extenive background check on the PR applicant ..making sure they not apart of any organized crime gang affliat of war crimes ect..Making sure what imformation provided is correct and true and they are who they say they are ...depending on the country of the applicant what countries you have resided in over 6 months, and of you have a common UBER NAME this process can takes months to complete...

My husbands background checks took around 4 months give or take ...I found out this information from my MP ...

Well

lets hope BUT like i stated depending on the visa office you are going through and the processing times it can take little time or months...I filled through Jamaica and our total process took 15 months but we had medical furthering and also expired meds to complete ...So i figure if we hadnt had those descrepancies our Process would have been over in 9 months ...even tho 80% of applicant at that time were being processed in 15 months

Just keep the faith and pray it can be done in regular time in regards to what the visa office you are dealing with processes...

These are the steps

1.Paper decision/ making sure all information is there / Send AOR what not!!

2.Selection/ determining is relationship is bonified/ either request interview/ or original documents and more supporting documents

3. Background/and security decision ( this process can takes months)

4.Medical review/ and if at this point if meds are expired request medical redos.

5.Final decision / either request PP/ or deny the applicant ..

Hope that gives some clearity about the process...Every visa office processes different But with my visa office this is indeed how it went ...

Our case was an appealed case that we won back in March of this year. I was just wondering at what point in appealed cases they do the security check since things are kind of different when you have to go this route.

we got letter for PCC redo and updated forms and they received acknowledged getting them on Aug 10th. We got the medical redo letter on Saturday Aug 21 and the medical is now done and they will receive it next week.
