Do I need to translate entry/exit stamps on my passport?

What to do in a case the stamp is not possible to read? I went to Mexico for vacation few years ago. When I arrived, they placed the entry stamp. However, only the date and city are legible, the rest is so blurry that it looks like a thick green line. Do I still have to translate it in such case?

Every stamp in all passports is fair game to be checked by the officer so do it just to be on the safe side. I assume your kids are included in your application.
