Dear are you sure about that ? only highest Degree needs ECA

Following is paragraph from CIC website

"Depending on your case, you may want to have both your secondary and post-secondary credentials assessed, and not just your highest completed foreign credential. You will not get any points for your foreign education under the CRS in Express Entry or be eligible under the FSWP if the result on your ECA report does not match at least one of the results in the conversion table."

Only the highest degree is needed I agree. However I think I mentioned this before, a lot of people had their master's degree evaluated as a bachelor. Since it happened to me as well I suggest getting ECA for both since it will give 2 or more degrees instead of just bachelor.

Hello,

I am from India and did both Bachelors (B.Tech, 4 years) and Masters(M.B.A, 2 years) from India. Although the topic has been discussed in this thread, i wanted to ensure that my interpretation is correct, so if one one of the members can help me with my query below.

To get your MBA evaluated, did WES require you to send your bachelor's degree transcripts as well, or did the MBA transcripts were enough to issue ECA ?

I ask because of this text on WES website, which can be interpreted in two different ways.

"For all applicants submitting a Master’s Degree or PGDip earned on top of a three year Bachelor’s Degree (12+3+2) for evaluation, WES requires that you provide your Bachelor’s degree documents, otherwise WES cannot complete the evaluation."

Since mine is a 4 year B.tech + 2 year MBA and want to make sure that to get ECA for my MBA, if i need the transcripts for B.tech aswell

Thanks.

Thanks for responding. Just following up on this: When you say do both, is it because its good to both, or is it that WES actually requires Bachelor's transcripts for evaluating Master's Degree from India ? I ask because its easy for me to get transcripts for my masters and not so easy for bachelors and hence if they dont really need bachelor's degree transcripts for evaluating master's degree, i would like to proceed without it.

this is very strange thing that I have noticed if your degree is from countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh wes asks for both Bachelors and masters and if it's from countries like UK,USA, Aus etc they don't I had Masters from Uk and they didn't ask for bachelor's and evaluated my masters only

So my situation is just a bit complicated. My post-secondary education is as follows:

1) 1996-1998: 2 year Associate's Degree earned from the USA
2) 1998-2000: Completion of 4 year Bachelor's degree from the USA (credits from the Associate's Degree were transferred to my Bachelor's degree university, so I only had to do 2 more years to complete my Bachelor's degree)
3) 2012-2013: MBA from Spain

So I've received a WES Evaluation for 2) and 3), and I am pretty sure I have mentioned 1) in my EE profile. Now when I submit the E-APR, will the WES Evaluation for 2) and 3) suffice, or will I have to provide 1) too?

Thanks!

You can safely remove 1) from your education history and add it to your personal history. Explain this change in a LOE. You get points for your highest qualification.

Thanks ashu1710.

So can what I have initially put down in my EE profile be modified when we begin submitting the e-APR?

Thanks.

Its good to do both because I read on previous forum posts CIC could ask for Bachelor ECA too, and since for WES its the same price for doing just Masters and Masters+Bachelor, then why not. But if you have problems with getting Bachelor documents then its not a mistake if you do Masters only.

No, your EE profile cannot be modified once you receive an invitation. You can change the PR application as much as you want, though. Just be sure to explain all inconsistencies in your LOE.

Thanks. For example, in the Family section of the EE profile, it allows you to specify only one family member. As a matter of fact, I have more than one family member, so I guess I just need to include their details as well in the LOE.

You may want to consider this while you are sending application to WES
1. If for some reason your MBA is evaluated as Bachelors, then if:
a)you have got BTech also evaluated, you get "Two or More Bachelor's Degrees" ECA
b) you have only MBA evaluated, you get "Bachelors Degree" ECA
2. There is a difference in points that you gets for these two ECAs
3. If you chose to get only MBA evaluated and get Bachelors equivalence, and then want to get BTech evaluated, you will have to fill up a new application with separate fees. So it will be double the money, double the time, when you could have saved that

It is your choice at the end of it

Hope this helps!

Thanks Sidhuz. Yes, that indeed was helpful. Just following up to check if you or anyone else has ever come across a scenario where on WES website if you do a equivalency check for Master's it shows as Master's but later on while actual evaluation it got evaluated as Bachelor's ??

I ask because the equivalency tool shows mine as Master's equivalent as shown below

Credential 1
Country of Education: India
Name of Degree: Master of Business Administration
Name of Institution: Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur
Equivalency in Canada: Master of Business Administration

Hi All,

I have few queries regarding adding education history in online express entry form

I have Bachelors (4 years) and PhD degrees. My wife has Bachelors (4 years), Masters (2 years) and PhD degrees. To get ECA report from WES, we required to send all educational documents from Post Secondary onwards (i.e. from A Levels / F.Sc onwards) as per requirements for Pakistanis.

We both have got our ECA reports:

1) My ECA report confirms equivalency for my doctorate and Bachelors (for 3 years) as Canadian equivalent.
2) My wife's ECA report only confirms her Doctorate degree.

In my online express entry form, I have added my educational history for PhD and Bachelors. For both I also added my ECA number.

I have following questions to ask:

1) Should I also add my education details for O and A levels (these were sent to WES as per their requirement for evaluating my highest degree i.e. PhD). If so, what ECA number should I add for A levels. Should I add the same ECA number as I added for my PhD and Bachelors or just mark the question that asks, if this credential was evaluated from WES, as "No".
2) Same question for my wife's case. Should I add details about her Masters, bachelors and Higher Secondary education. If so, should I mark WES evaluation question as "No".

Your kind help will be really appreciated.

Many Thanks.

-Maissom.

Hi,

I have done my secondary education from Delhi, India and my graduation from Coventry University, UK.

Is ECA required for both or just my graduation as they have been done in different countries ?

I will appreciate your help.

Thanks

Hi,

From what I have researched so far (and followed as well in my EE application) you only need to get your highest degree verified by WES. Depending on your country's requirements outlined by WES, you may be required to submit documents of lower degrees as well.

Hope this helps.

Best,
