I don't think they can get that much information without the bank account holder's permission.
CIC does not ask any details. But they ask if the person has an account ,since what time, if the statement is genuine, if balance shown on the statement sent to VO is genuine. This information has nothing to do with privacy. Bank has policy about fraud and anti-laundry and they share SOME info with police and CIC.

sponsor usually write on affidavit that they can access the information of particular bank account, therefore its 100% legal...

Nope nothing like that on my affidavit.

Ya maybe they can do that but still I think they will have to share the statement somehow like scan it and show it to the bank manager than only can the bank manager verify.

Oh! yes, of source, they fax it to the bank and then make a back up call an so on.
And AN APPLICANT gives the permission. You should read what you sign when you apply. ;)

hmm..well i gave CIC the permission of-course but I never told my bank manager that i did so. Are you a CIC representative?

No. I just happen to know a lot about immigration and banks. :)
You did not, CIC did. Bank knows the rules and to whom they may or may not release clients info and how much of it.
BS....you are just trolling all the post without any practical exp! No such thing happens ....when will this forum get rid of trolls scaring people .......

the best way is to add the account certificate with ur bank statement, it usually comes from head branch, and takes 2 or 3 business days to get, but its very genuine so its the proof that ur account and bank statement is real.. and yeah CIC can ask for ur info u can ask ur manager they have to give ur info,,

ur account and bank statement is real
The problem could be not with account but with money on it.

You can borrow money for a week, put it to your genuine account in bank, get a certified statement, withdraw money the next day, return money to lender. So, that is why CIC asks to show them statements at least for 4 months. They want to see how those money get onto account. So, for example, they can ask the bank if money come as a lump sum and how long ago? Or has money been saving for some period of time?

When you sign the application, read the fine print. You give CIC and the embassies the right to independently verify ever piece of information on the application

Only with government institutions. Not banks. However banks have there own policy. And I said CIC does not ask for money details. They know what to ask and how.
