Hello everyone...anyone who will read this.
I have to write to vent. It has been roughly 4.5 months since the Immigration office requested my passport copy. When we got that email, with the request and the statement saying they would not need an interview and that the first step is finished, we were so excited because we were told by many that that is the end of the process.
Along with the request of the passport copy there was also a request for my CSQ, as I'll be living in Quebec. Unfortunately, we hadn't applied yet for that because we were under the impression that it was something we could do after the Federal Immigration office made it decision. When we realized the two were tied together and that the Fed. office required it before making a final decision, we went ahead and applied.
Meantime, our attorney went ahead and forwarded the copy of the passport to the immigration office. By Nov. 13 the CSQ was approved and sent to Immigration. We thought at the time that all they needed to do was put a stamp on the documents. We thought we would have the landing papers within a couple of weeks. To think cautiously, we figured a month at the most would be reasonable to expect.
Now, it's been almost 2 solid months since my attorney sent off the CSQ to be added to my completed, as far as we know, file. There is nothing else ( and there has been nothing else since Nov.) that we need to send them.
Everywhere online ( in forums) we read about how long it should take after the request for passport is requested, we read a month at the most. I know we had that little stumble that delayed things a little with the CSQ, but we are so completely shocked that this much time has passed since that day in August when we got so excited about what seemed to be the light at the end of the tunnel....and the wait is not over yet.
What's worse, we have no idea whatsoever even roughly how much longer it will be.
I'm a US citizen who applied as a typical, run of the mill, sponsored spouse, outland application. Since the beginning of the process, I have been going back and forth from the States because I can only be called a visitor in Canada which means I have a limited amount of time that I can stay at one time. In the winter it's especially hard to go back and forth like this.
Now, we are seriously wondering if I'm going to have to consider going back to the States indefinitely to work while we wait. I just finished grad school and really, really need to get to work after waiting around Canada for over a year now while this process is taking place. The thought of just up and leaving my marriage indefinitely is very upsetting.
That's about all my venting for now. I know no one has any answers. Only the immigration office has those answers. If anyone has any words of encouragement or similar stories that are relatable, though, I'd be interested to learn of them.
Thanks for reading.
Devastated and waiting in New Hampshire ( at the moment )
