Detroit Timeline for Stamping visa after PPR

Hi,

I am an in-Canada applicant and I received a letter that requested for me to pay the right of permanent residency fee, send photos and passport. So I am assuming this is the PPR. I have sent everything a few days ago.
The letter stated that if you are a citizen of a country that does not require a visitor's visa to enter Canada then send a copy of your valid passport. I do not need to obtain a visitor's visa so I photocopied my entire passport book and sent it. I did not send the original.

I am a little confused with this passport request:

Question -
What does immigration Canada do with the passport - is it for verification or for stamping?

If it's for stamping then I would assume that they would need the original??

Any clarity on this matter would be great..

Hi there! The documents you send is not for immigration, is for canadian consulate. They need the passports for verification and issue the CPR and then you need to go the immigration border for sign the CPR and Stamping. Last friday they send me the same letter but we don't send by mail I went to canadian consulate in detroit with the passport, two photos and the letter and I got the CPR and same day. In detroit canadian consulate they give me a CPR and when I came back to Canada(in the same day) I stop in immigration border sign the papers and all done. If they stamping the passport copy great if not you just need to go the immigration border and sign the CPR.

Hi Shazam,

I am from a country that requires a visa to enter Canada so I had to send my original passport.
They only asked you for the photocopy as you don't need a visa to when you complete landing procedure. You will only need CoPR to take a long with you. They ask for passport photocopies to ensure that you have a valid one. Its a standard procedure, so nothing to worry about. Cheers..

Nothing as yet. My passport Reached Windsor on 20th, so I don't even think they have opened my package yet. I am thinking Mid next week before we see any movement.

PPR - August 27
Applied for CoPR/ sent application to Detroit via Expresspost - August 27
I have included a return expresspost envelope with 'Windsor address' in the 'FROM' field as they suggested in their website

Reached Detroit -August 31

Still waiting for CoPR

PPR--30th August
Applied for COPR--5th September
Reached Detroit --7th September
COPR received today -- 21st september

Will do Landing tomorrow in Carway

I also received PPR last Friday. I don't need to mail my passport as I am visa-exempt and I have already paid my $490 RPRF when I submitted my application last December. Would it be faster for me to get my PR Visa?

PPR recieved on 21 Sept 12
Sent copy of Passport and photos on 27 Sept 12

Does anyone know if the pre-paid envelope that we include with the passport (passport copies in my case) is only for the returning of the passport or is it also used to include the COPR ? or does the COPR come separately from CIC?

I sent my package to the Windsor address (instead of detroit) via regular mail but included a pre-paid xpress post envelope, which will be sent from Windsor.
