Dependent kids in spousal sponsorship

Hello there,
Does anyone know if the dependent (minor) children of someone who's being sponsored as a "spouse living in Canada" needed to be present physically in Canada? And if the parent goes back to bring them to Canada would it affect the sponsorship application?
