Paper application, AOR Feb 16
April 18 request for fingerprint
Email states reason for request is section 21 and 22 of citizenship act. Is this normal?

Yes, if they are unable to clear your criminal history check with just the name, dob, and place of birth, you'll need to submit FPs. It's fairly straightforward - just follow instructions to submit them at the RCMP/Local police service/RCMP accredited service.

Strike or no strike, stay strong, team! A few things to take away:

1. If you're waiting for your background check or prohibitions like most of us, that work will continue to be carried out by CBSA, CSIS and other third-party agencies. There will be a backlog when IRCC staff return but it won't be of covid proportions.
2. If there is no agreement soon, the federal government could legislate workers back to work by force - as they did in 1991.
3. Let's hope self-administered oaths are approved and implemented by June - it's still possible many of us could be taking oaths in June and July despite the strike.

if (big if) they are still on strike in June/July we’d still need immigration approval to do a self administered oath. Csis and cbss can’t approve the application.

IRCC employees have gone on strike officially… oh man! :(
Well, I guess I won’t need to check my profile 10 times a day for the foreseeable future. Just a few weeks out will probably result in months of delays for them to catch up on all the millions of applications in progress. Sometimes I wonder why I bothered applying.

My concern is when they come back to work, they would start working on fresh applications and whatever in queue remains in queue.. Same as what happened with lost 2020/2021 applications while 2022 ones are completed

The strike apparently are only for full time permanent employees. The temporary and contract workers are not included. Although, those are supposedly working on less complex applications such as work visas, and study visas. Nor are those working abroad included in the strike.

Maybe they have reallocated workers. Who knows? We just have to sit and wait. It’s not like we didn’t know it was going in this direction.
